OK I have replaced my old thermostat with a new Honeywell RTH 7000 I have installed all the 7 wires correctly but it is not working correctly. I have a Goodman CPLE 24-1B which I believe is an electric Heat pump. Setting 170 at 7 and 190 for electric. Seems to blow cool air (not cold) when on cool and doesn't seem to blow hot air when on heat. I set to heat and the wait light comes on for about 5 minutes. Then will kick on for about a minute and blow cool air and stop, sometimes going back to the wait light. Definitely not getting warm

Wires matched to HEAT pump Diagram setup
I have the blue wire going to C
Green wire going to G
Yellow wire to Y
Orange to the O/B
The only red wire directly to Rc (which is jumpered to R)
White going to (w2 or AUX)
Brown wire going E

What am I missing?

Function 190 is to energize the reversing valve in accordance with what your HP expects? You sure you go that one right? What was the old tstat?

I have the 190 set at 0 since I hooked a wire labeled O to the O/B connection as instructed by the manual. The old Tstat was a honeywell digital as well just not programmable.

Actually I don't like the way the manual puts that because there are some systems that use both O and B, and what they really mean is to energize or deenergize the O terminal for heat or cool, or vice versa depending on what the HP expects for heat or cool.

Do you know where your orange wire goes and what it hooks to? What happened when you set 190 to 1?

The other option is to rewire your old tstat and map out with multimeter what terminals are energized in each mode: cool, heat, them heat, fan only. Then you'll know what terminal does what.

The orange is hooking to the O/B the blue is to the C. The manual does leave a lot to be desired. I haven't tried the 190 to 1 yet. I will try when I get home.

Sorry about that. The air handler in the attic appears to be a Goodman as well. THe manual says instructions for ARUF, ARPF,APRT and AEPT series handlers.

Just curious how you made out? Do you know where your orange wire goes and what it hooks to? What happened when you set 190 to 1?

I hooked the orange to the O/B. Nothing happened when I set the 190 to 1. Oddly enough I set the 170 to 2 and the heat worked until 3. am this morning. Needless to say I am done screwing with it and I have the Heating and AIr people coming out. Be forewarned. Thermostat replacement is not as simple as the Greenhuggers make it out to be.

Sounds like someone needs to trace down what each wire energizes. I would be interested to know what the resolution was. Good luck.

Turns out the company the installed the unit came out to look and they actually informed me the White wire is what they use for Common and the Blue is for Aux when they wire.

Sounds like a non-standard color scheme. In the electrical trade they like to use colored tape or hand paint to recolor wires to indicate to someone later on what the color mapping is.
