I would like to install an outlet on the exterior of my home, the main purpose of which would be to power low voltage landscape lighting. I have a couple of different questions...
1) What is the appropriate type of outlet to use in the application. It is a wet location, susceptible to rain, snow, etc.
2) It will be a very short run, indeed, I would like to mount it on the other side of the wall from the electrical panel itself. Do I need to run the wire through conduit? It will be going through a brick wall. Is there a special type of wire for this application?
3) The outlet will be on it's own circuit, should I use a GFCI breaker or just a GFCI outlet?
4) Finally, and this might make things easier, there is a wire currently running from the house and into the ground under our front porch. It isn't easy to get to (read: I would need to remove some decorative concrete blocks to get to it. It isn't in conduit (but it is an older home, so it may have been installed before that was code). I tried my proximity tester on the portion of it that was reachable, but it didn't register at all. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
