My daughter of 24 has been experiencing excessive hair loss for the last 3 months. She has lost nearly three quarters of her hair. It is NOT coming out in patches but thinning all over. She has not had any surgeries or any other kind of trama to cause this to happen. She is taking vitamins and is very active. One doctor diagnosed her with insulin resistance but I have heard that this has nothing to do with hair loss but just the opposite. He put her on a pill called metformin (which she hasn't started yet). Does anyone have any ideas why she would be losing her hair? At the rate she is losing her hair I would guess that in 3 more months she will be completely bald.

I did some research and found this site, follow the link. I hope that helps a bit, sadly I don't know much about this condition.

Good luck.

I have alopecia(sp?? ) and it made my hair fall out... I lost like 3 circles about silver dollar sized... but I have a very mild case and it has only happened once... people with worse cases can end up with really thin hair or no hair at all... my dermatologist diagnosed me I recommend seeing one if you haven't already. My dr's gave me a few things it could be but were not near as helpful...
