I remember there were two dogs. One I think was on some search or quest to find the meaning of life or something

The thing that I remember is he finds a dog food can with the paper still attached and there is a picture within a picture with a dog, and he stares into this and you see it scroll through all these pictures of this dog like he was looking for the last picture of the dog on that can...

That's all I remember it is bugging me no end

I've been trying to find out about the same movie for years. And like you, I can't remember anything other than the can scene. Although, are you sure it was two dogs looking for each other or if it was two dolls looking for each other. Not sure myself. Anyway, if you find out the name please post.
