. Ensure engine is "stone cold," in order not to strip the aluminum head.

. Working on one cylinder at a time, remove the first spark plug wire. Using a 5/8" spark plug socket, 3/8" extension bar, and 3/8" drive ratchet, remove the spark plug. Check spark plug gap on new platinum plug (ACDelco only). Apply a thin coating of antiseize compound to the new spark plug's threads. It's good procedure to lightly coat the porceilin portion of the spark plug, and the male electrode, with silicone grease or dielectric grease. Carefully, install the new plug, being sure not to get it cross-threaded. Once you are sure it's seated properly, tighten the plug approximately 8 lb.-ft. Reattach spark plug wire and move on to the next cylinder.
