Acids used in salt formation?

I need the acid that is used to form the salt carbonate? :confused:

What I'm sure, is that you can obtain a carbonate such as calcium carbonate by reacting aqueous calcium hydroxide with carbon dioxide.
However, perhaps carbonic acid will do?
