Don't know if this belongs here or electrical, but my gps literally took me to a cow paddock today! Lol

Even though I am hopeless with directions, I kind of knew we were going a long way out of the way because I'd been to my daughter's friends house before and she lives in the suburbs not that far from us. I put my trust in the gps, and look what happened!

Now, how do I fix the thing?

The better units on the market can be updated online. Many lower-end products are almost useless.

And all of them are only as good as the maps, and sometimes the city or county show roads that are not there, and others show roads that are very poor.

The gps is a navman and only a few months old. When I keyed in the home address that's usually fine, there was no response at all.

It's been been plugged into the lighter outlet overnight, yet this morning the batteries are low. I normally only plug it in when it needs to be used which isn't that often, so maybe the batteries were too flat. Doesn't sound good though.

Not a good idea to leave something plugged into the electrical receptacle when the car is off, it could drain the car's battery.

If the GPS doesn't find the street address then I wouldn't trust the directions. You need to onfirm the route on a map in such a case.

Helpful advice about the car battery, although it's difficult to know what to do with it now.
