I share this computer with my sisters and I'm not sure what they did, but today I put a disk in my cd drive and nothing happened. I opened up "my computer" and the D drive wasn't listed there. I have no idea what's going on! Can anyone explain to me how to fix this?
Thanks!

What kind of computer? Mac or Windows. Manufacturer, processor, operating system? Can you see the drive if you boot in safe mode? It may be a Windows problem. Put a CD in. Open a DOS window and check to see if you can see the drive in DOS. Do this by typing d: and press enter. Then type DIR and you should see the files in the root directory of the CD.

If it is an XP machine, and it is a Windows problem, you can try restoring to a previous point. If it's a notebook, you may have to download a driver from the manufacturer's website.

Give me more information and I can probably help.

I suspect windows is not seeing your d: drive... if you are using Windows and can I assume this is a 2nd physical (vs logical) drive??

Click START>RUN> enter "cmd" & press [ok].. enter "chkdsk/f d:" at the blinkg prompt. If the PC recognizes the drive (d:), then windoze will try and fix the missing d: drive in mycomputer. While your in DOS, consider running a chkdsk on your main (c:) drive. This may also cure the problem...

Secondly, the power or data cables may be unplugged (inside the computer) and need a reseat...

And lastly, the pc's bios may need to be "reminded" the drive is installed.

Take a look at these two Microsoft articles, do they apply in this case? It might be worth a try!
