What is the approximate value for the rate at which the moon orbits the earth?

Rate ?
The time between two new moons (or full moons) is 27.3 days...

If you combine this with the orbital radius of the moon of (on average) 384400km then you can work out the speed, if that's what you mean by rate.
If you mean acceleration, then from all the above information you can work out the centripetal acceleration necessary to keep it in orbit.
