Kenmore dryer stopped working. Figured out it was a bad motor. Installed a new motor and the dryer works great if set to just air dry.

However, if you select a heat setting, the dryer becomes louder and louder the hotter it gets. Eventually its about as loud as a leaf blower, but with a deeper pitch. The whole unit throbs with the sound.

I cracked the hub of the blower wheel slightly when I was removing it. The plastic where it cracked is pretty thick and there doesn't seem to be any give or flex to the wheel due to the crack.

I can't figure out where the noise is originating from. It seems to be coming from the motor-blower assembly but I can't figure if it's the new motor or the cracked wheel. It sets up vibrations throughout the entire dryer.

Are dryer motors known to exhibit the behavior of getting louder and vibrating when they get hotter, or do you think it's the wheel heating up and getting flexible enough to through the thing off balance?

And crack or break in the blower wheel can cause a lot of vibration which amplifies through the metal cabinet. I had one once that had a chunk out of one of the vanes on the blower wheel and boy did it vibrate.

Heat always seems to add to these irregularities.

Make sure you have the motor in it's housing correctly first.
