What can cause a roll out switch to open on a warm air gas furnace

Just as the device says roll out. Roll out of flames or heat (from the front of the unit) causes this device to trip. It is a safety device and should always be replaced if defective. There can be many direct reasons for failure like restricted vent or debris in the chimny etc.
