If you're not saving the old shower enclosure I would take a Saws-All and cut that sucker right out. Cut around the valve and drain and remove the rest. To tell you more I would have to know the material the drainage pipes are made of and how the drain is attached. Also your new shower enclosure should come with instructions. Click on back with then when you have the old one removed and have purchased the new shower enclosure.

How old is the unit you are taking out? There are a lot of options for replacing, and easy ways to make it custom looking instead of running down to home depot to buy something that looks like it was made for an old mobile home. Hit me up, I'm glad to share.
