You should discuss this matter with the employer's attorney, the one who filed this petition.

But my company(employer) attorney are not ready to do that until my company approves me to go for the change of status so I'm looking for an option where I can file through another employeer and get my h1b transferred to that employeer. Is this possible?

Why you need to change status, you will be eligible to obtain green card no matter you hold L or H visa.

The reason I told you to consult the employer's attorney is many companies play tricky games with this issue and USCIS are aware of this. Consult this attorney... does not mean to tell them what to do... just ask for what is the appropriate thing to do.
