I just recently moved into a townhouse and wanted to fix it up a little by installing laminate floors in my bathroom. I currently have linoleum on my floors and figured that once I replaced the linoleum with the laminate it may shorten the pipe underneath of my toilet. Is it possible for me to extend the pipe so it maybe able to be flushed with the bottom of the toilet? What is the best and easiest way of extending it?

Our local expert seems to be taking a day off. As an amateur, I believe that if the additional elevation is no more than a half inch, you could just get a wax ring with an integral funnel and not have to do anything more.

dclynch gave you very good advice. A extra thick wax seal with a funnel would do the trick if the gap is 1/2". For a larger gap you can still set the toilet without extending the stub-up or tearing up the floor. A deep flange, (see image) will do the job just fine. Good luck, Tom
