I tried to install a programmable thermostat but it didn't work, so I put the old Honeywell rotary thermostat back on. It has 3 wires, red, white, green. I have an oil fired furnace w/ radiators. No air conditioning. The furnace will come on when I turn the thermostat down and shut off when I turn the thermostat up.

Any thoughts?

I don't have an answer for you but I'm hoping you can help me. I have the white, red and green wires and I didn't label them when I took the Honeywell down. Do you know wire the wires go on a digital? :confused:

For both of you:

R = Red
W = White
G = Green

If there is an R use it.
If there is an Rh; use it for R
If there is a jumper between Rh and Rc or R and Rc; leave it and connect this to R
