I need two 15x41 1/2
one 20x64
three 13x18
how much wood would I need to make these shelves?
is there a formula that I could use for the future?

Only thing I can come up with is a sheet of plywood is 4x8. That equals 4608 sqr. Inches.
You need 4364 square inches of shelving. So if you lay out correctly on the plywood you should get all your shelfs.
As for a formula, don't know any off hand. Sort of do what I just did now.

All I can tell you is measure twice cut once. :)

Are you building the uprights out of plywood or something different

Measure twice and cut once is a wise approach... unless you own a board strecher like I have then don't worry about it.
