I have been coloring my hair for years, mostly shades of reds. I've most recently used L'Oreal Couleur Experte - 3.5 Chocolate Mousse. I loved the results but they are quickly fading, I used it about 6 weeks ago. I want to color my hair dirty blonde(like Feria shimmering sands) to light brown(my natural color, except I do have red tones to my hair), but not sure what is the proper way to do it. I was thinking of doing a prelightening kit, like utra blonde, or maxi blonde then going over it with the desired color but I'm afraid that the maxi blonde won't lighten my hair enough may end up orangey. I want to do this at home, and want to have at least decent results since I work at a hospital I have to look professional. Thanks in advance if anyone can give me some advice. Thank you:D

It's called a "double process." First the hair is bleached and then the new color is added. If you want blonde hair, you must lighten your hair to a yellow stage, then apply a toner/color to achieve your color. It's difficult to bleach your hair by yourself, please let a friend help you with this method. You will find everything you need at the beauty supply store.

Thank you :) What type of supplies should I get any suggestions?

For instance, you will need a bleach packet with the liquid developer to make a creamy paste. It's best to use a 30-volume peroxide since you want to go blonde. Mix the developer and the bleach packet together until it's a creamy consistency, then apply it to your hair. When the shade of your hair is lightened to a yellow stage, thoroughly rinse your hair to remove all of the bleach. Next, shampoo and condition your hair and be sure to dry it. Then you will need to apply a toner or desired color. Good luck.
