We had an old (1950's) manual thermostat. Upgrading to a Honeywell rth7000 programmable thermostat. We have oil heat only. I have two quesitons;
1) Am I correct in assuming that we connect one wire to R (is it R or RC, I think we have both) and one to W?
2) Will this allow the programmable feature to work? We don't want to have to replace batteries monthly.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Here is a copy of your instructions.

R and RC has a jumper from the factory but since you have no AC it will not make a difference which you land the wire on. R is good. W is good for the other wire.

The program feature will work BUT I believe it will work on the batterys. This thermostat might be power stealing but you need to call Honeywell to be sure. You will also have to do system setup. Honeywells phone number is at the end of the above instructions.
