Hello,

I have an interesting question for you, I have blue and brown eyes, the irises are brown in the middle around the pupils and the rest of the iris is light blue. I have been told that this is Heterochromia, is this correct? The colours are very distinct as the brown is just as evident as the blue. If this is not Heterochromia I would be very interested to know why my eyes are two very distinct colours and what this type of eye is called?

Heterochromia generally refers to two different eye colors one in each eye. Heterochromia is uncommon in humans, but quite common in dogs, cats, and horses. Most cases of heterochromia are hereditary, caused by a disease or syndrome, or due to an injury. Sometimes one eye may change color following certain diseases or injuries.
