View Full Version : Could I pregnant?

My last period was on September 26th and it was heavy for 3 days with serious cramping all days and then it suddenly stopped. (Normally it's 4-5 days, heavy on first day and no cramping.) Then about 5-7 days later I started having sharp and painful feelings in my breast and even some occasional blurred vision. About a week and a half later, I got scared and worried about my breast, so I did some research online to find that it's a pregnancy symptom. (The blurred vision too!) A few days later, the blurred vision stopped. (I just had an eye exam and everything was fine. I had in a pair of brand new contacts.) Today is October 21 and ever since the stopping of the blurred vision, I have experienced the following: swollen, enlarged breast, sore breasts, nausea, extreme fatigue by mid day, sever hunger pains every few hours, extreme thirst (I just can't get enough water!), I can smell a dog miles away, strong smelling urine, I hate the foods I loved and I crave the foods I didn't care for, I cry over everything, and I keep feeling tugging and heaviness in the bottom of my tummy, especially at night.
So, with all od this, I took a pregnancy test at a woman's center on October 20 and it was negative. I've been felling like my period is going to start any minute over the last 2 weeks, but it hasn't come yet. I'm due to start on October 27 (I'm on a 31 day cycle and it's soooooooo regular. I can give you the exact dates of my last 5 periods.) I normally don't have any period symptoms, just a little aggervation in my tummy right before it comes. I eat healthy and haven't had cramps or sore breasts in years unless I ate pork or beef right before my cycle. But that's my only symptoms.
Soooooooo... Could I be pregnant even though the test said no?

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I had heart burn and vomiting last night and tonight I noticed a thick white discharge that did not have a smell. (no itching either) The last few days I've been more moist down there, but just clear liquid and then tonight the white, thick discharge. Hmmmmm?

You could be pregnant or you could have just had an off period. The fact is, pregnancy symptoms and PMS are very similar.
Wait another week or two and try another hpt, remember to use first morning urine, or go to your doctor for a blood test.
Good luck.

Yeh, when I went to the woman's center it was around noon. Maybe that had something to do with it or maybe it's too early to tell. Like you said it could have been an off period and the actual conception could have happened after, so at this point, I'd be 3 weeks.

Just remember that sometimes it takes a while to get a positive result with an hpt. Wait until your next period is due and test when you're around 1 week late with that period, or, like I said before, go to the doctor for a blood test.
I hope it all works out the way you want. :)
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I will test a week after I miss my period. (I pray!) I cannot go to the doctor at this time because my husband was in the Navy and got out and now he's in the process of getting into another branch of service, so I do not have insurance. I should by in the nest week or two, so I'll have to wait until then before I can go to the doctor. Meanwhile, I really want an answer because everyone thinks I'm crazy to think that I'm pregnant because we use protection. I've been taking prenatals and DHA just in case. I know protection is 99.9% effective. Somehow, in my gut and in my heart, I feel like I'm that .1%.

Hey everyone, today is the 23rd... the day I'm told I could possible get a positive HPT result. What's the verdict, should I test tomorrow morning or still wait until the week after my cycle period?
J_9

Why don't you do both? If you get a negative tomorrow morning, test again in a week.
About the DHA, is it a prescription or over the counter?

It's over the counter: Expecta LIPIL is the brand.

It's over the counter: Expecta LIPIL is the brand.
Herbs and herbal remedies are NOT recommended when trying to conceive or during pregnancy. These "medications" are not regulated by the FDA, thus you really don't know what you are getting. They are not required to put every ingredient on the label.
CrissyDi
Oct 23, 2008, 12:40 PM
Huh? DHA or Omega 3's are considered an "herbal remedy?" My friend, who is a surgeon suggested that I take it. The box says for pregnant and nursing mothers. The Expecta Brand is from tha maker's of Enfamil baby formula. I also see an oriental medicine doctor and was taking real herbals for thyroid issues. I have stopped taking the Kelpcom and Jurubeba because they are actual herbals. Should I not be taking Omega 3's for my baby's brain health? I've heard that over and over again from many sources, both in the traditional and non-traditional health fields.

Today, I'm not feeling so anxious about finding the answer to this pregnancy dilemma. Things in my life are not turning towards the better right now and having a baby in this season of my life (if it doesn't change soon) will not be good. My husband and I are changing jobs. We use to have a lot of money and now we are flying by the seats of our pants. I rather have a baby once we get things together. Argh! Life!
DoulaLC
Oct 24, 2008, 05:00 AM
Hope things settle down for you Crissy... the omega 3's are good for you, but you can get much from eating a good variety of foods, and many these days have it added to them... this would actually be preferred over supplements. You may not really "need" the supplement.
The concern I think J_9 was mentioning is that supplements aren't regulated so you have to be more careful with their use. You do still want to be sure to eat a varied diet so you don't have an over abundance of omega 3 as it can be an issue for some people. Do check with your doctor before using any supplement to be sure you don't have any health concerns that would warrant monitoring... such as diabetes.

Thanks for clarifying Doula. Yes, a healthy diet with a varitey of fruits, nuts, veggies, and whole grains is essential.

Hey everyone, thanks for appeasing me... my period started today (early!? ) so I guess that answers my question. = ( The last 3 1/2 weeks have really changed my life! Thinking that I am pregnant has revealed so much to me. Looks like my husband and I will be planning to start a family sooner than we thought. Thanks again, everyone for all of your advice.

Good luck on starting your family.
Remember to be patient, it rarely happens right away. Don't take the fun out of sex, don't have sex just to have a baby. Eat healthy, start pre-natal viatamins and folic acid, see your doctor for a physical and then wait and see.
Keep us posted. :)

Thanks for the advice. Yeh, that's the problem with planning it, is that it doesn't normally happen right away. Argh! I would like a child born between March and May, so I'm going to have to wait another year almost, before I can even start trying and then I only have a 3 month window to hit those 3 months for the birth. :p We'll see how it all works out.

According to the experiences and opinions of others, I still may be pegnant. For all of those searching for similar answers as my original question, I will keep you posted as to the outcome. I experienced bleeding for 4 days and yesterday it ended with a brownish/clearish fluid. Some say it could be implantation and others say it could be decedual bleeding. I am not sure as I have not been able to go to the doctor. I will be testing either tomorrow or the next day. I will post the results.

Update: After my break from all that is baby, my symptoms were less intense, but they were still present.
Also, my belly started to grow.
I have taken several hpts and they are all negative. I am still having symptoms and my belly has gotten bigger. I had an ultrasound done on Monday at Planned Parenthood and they couldn't get a clear reading so I have to come back in a week or so. We did see my bladder and a grey blob, but the NP wasn't sure what it was, she said it could be a baby or something else. She talked to the doctor callrd me today and he said it wasn't a fibroid or anything scarey and that it's best to come back and do another one in a week or so and see if it will be more clear.
So, tests are negative and ultrasounds are unclear... but one thing is for sure, I can no longer hide my belly as everyone is use to seeing my flat stomach and the nausea has kicked up and is causing me to vomit after I eat any "real" food. I can only find safety in crackers, apple sauce, fruit, and cooked veggies.
Any opinions?

Today I felt a flutter on the right side of my tummy. It happened twice within 30 or 45 seconds apart. Now that my stomach is getting bigger, my belly button is starting to stretch out. Weird! Still don't have a final answer, but I am believing God that conformation is coming soon. Amen!

Crissy, I don't want to throw ice water on this, but if your last period was Sept 26, it would be way too early to feel the baby move.
I'm not saying that you aren't pregnant, just to not get your hopes up. I don't want you to be disappointed if this doesn't work out.

Nov 21, 2008, 05:36 PM
Altenweg, thanks for the reply... again. I totally understand about not getting my hopes up. At this point, I'm just believing for a solid yes or no. I've been having vaginal bleeding all along, so I'm not sure how far along I could be. My last regular period was August 26th. September and October were odd periods and thus far, I'm late for November's period... it may not even come. So, I'm just beliving that if it doesn't come, that will be my BFP. Hee Hee

What about a blood test to see if your pregnant too?
CrissyDi
Nov 21, 2008, 07:15 PM
I actually thought a ultrasound would be more accurate. Ooops! But now I'm just going to wait until the end of the week and see if I totally miss my period. I prayed that he would stop any vaginal bleeding as a conformation if I am pregnant, so I'm waiting until Thursday (35th day) before making any more decisions. My period should have come on the 29th or 32nd day which would have been today or Monday.
I will keep everyone posted.

Today I had a lotiony, white discharge that did not have a smell. Still no period. Took a test today and it had a faint positive line... and I do mean faint. Not sure if I can depend on that or not. Has anyone else had a faint positive? Was it acutally positive or negative?

I used a brand from the Dollar Tree called New Choice. The faint line showed as soon as I put the drops in. I tried adding some more drops a few hours later to see if it was an evaporation line or whatever and it didn't darken and neither did the control line. Does that mean it's accurate or inaccurate? I did use first morning urine... 6:30am and then added more around 9 something.
Kpag, are you Trying to conceive?
BTW: Still no period. When I do too much activity, like today I helped a friend move (I only moved a few light boxes and vacuumed. Don't worry,) I feel something flowing down there and when I look, it's more clear discharge. Over the last few days, I've been having to wear a panty liner or add some tissue down there so that I can stay dry. Does that mean anything?
Oh, and my boobs feel tight and full... not like before I start me period, different. They feel like my belly- round, full, and tight. When I touch my boobs or my stomach, my fingers bounch back, like they're full of liquid. ( Like a water balloon.)

I have been having pregnancy symptoms since October and my period on September 26th and October 24th were not normal... they were short and heavy and the last one ended with a brownish fluid. Even after the September period ended, the symtpoms were still there.
Now it's November and I'm still experiencing symptoms. I've taken several tests and all were negative except a faint positive a couple days ago. It was a dollar tree brand so I'm not sure if I can trust that. I had an ultrasound a week ago and it was inconclusive. They said they couldn't tell if it was an empty sac (blighted ovum) or one that is just forming. (All I could see was a grey blob.) I have no idea how far along I am even if I am pregnant. Hubby and I were not Trying to conceive, and just recently stopped using protection over this last month. (Faithfully used condoms before because I couldn't tolerate the drugs.) But now that we feel that we might already be pregnant, we stopped using protection.
I'm going to wait a few weeks before going back for another ultrasound.
My period is late... not sure if it will come or not. (Praying it won't) :D I was going to try another hpt once the 28-35day time is over and I'm sure that I've completely missed my period. (That has never happened to me before.)
Anyone have this happen to them? I'm trying to see if anyone who had a "period" while pregnant experienced a lot of clear discharge when the bleeding stopped for their next cycle time.
Any input would be great!

My lines were so dark it looked like I used a marker!
When I went to the doctor the next day, she said that positive came up so fast, she had never seen that.
I guess my harmones were through the roof!
I was 7 days late when I took the 99 cent's store test.
I have a friend who took a few because the second line was faint. But they all had two lines.

Thanks... I love it too! I downloaded it from the internet.
A few people think it is real. But I highly doubt you could get a picture like this in reality.
This is my fourth pregnancy. I have never had an inaccurate test. They were always positive... and I knew they would be.
But I hear so many stories on this site about having a negative test when they are pregnant.
All women are different. Their harmones are different.

Test results are only accurate during a certain period, usually around 10 minutes. If you wait any longer than that to read the results, you will have false positives show up.

Yeh, it is sooooooooo hard. I believe my hormones are strong and I predict that if I am, it would show up. But also, I can't deny what I am feeling and have been feeling in my body. I really don't know at which point I could have gotten pregnant so it's like all the symptoms just run into each other from one month to the next. So it's like, did I get pregnant this month or last month and all the symptoms before were stress and off hormones? Or was I pregnant the whole time? I will have to wait to find out all of these answers until I can get a positive result. I've talked to some women who had bleeding each month, like a period, and so they couldn't test positive, even at the doctor and so the doctor would not treat them. After months of waiting, it finally showed they were pregnant and when they measure, the woman would be like 4 or 5 months along. That is crazy! I'm not sure if that's happenng to me or not. Argh!
I'm going to test again soon and I will let everyone know the results.

Yeh, the faint line came up right away. I just tried adding some more later on to see if it would have an affect on the test. (My attempt to reuse the test and see if I'd get a stronger positive or if the faint line would remain. Second time, it looked darker when it was immediately wet and a min or so later it dried and looked the same. Don't know... I know you should'nt reuse them. Either time, I did not read them after 3 minutes. It was just a silly experiment. Hee Hee :p

I still didn't get a period today (day 32, the average day of my period every month.) I did however get some brown discharge that I noticed when I wipe. A tiny bit came out on my pantyliner. (Hope not TMI)
What do you think of that? Is it the start of my period? Normally they come with a huge gush or if they start light, they will pick up in the matter of a couple hours. I've been up since 9 something and it's almost 5 here.
Could it be from moving boxes yesterday?

I read earlier tha you had a faint positive line since the hormones doubles up every 2 days if you truly pregnant the positive line should be more noticeable by Wednesday.. regarding the brown blood don't know what it is [implanation of the embryo maybe?]

Ok, everyone... I tested again this morning and I got another faint line. Only this time it was much darker than the one a few days ago. I believe that's my answer.
I will let everyone know how my ultrasound goes on Tuesday (Dec. 2.) It will be interesting to see if I've been pregnant this whole time or if I recently got pregnant.
I also plan on testing again on Saturday to see if I can get a darker line.
I pray that all of this information is helping someone out there. I know how crazy and confussing it can feel to have all of these things going on in your body and all the posts and questions end with more questions and no one comes back and says, "Ok, I'm pregnant!" or "Man, I wasn't pregnant!"

Also, have you started prenatal vitamins? It's important to start them asap for the health of your baby. :)
It is hard not knowing what's going on with your body, I wish we could be more help on sites like these, but sadly we cannot. But threads like this one do help, it makes people know that they aren't alone out there, that other people are going through similar things.

Hi Crissy I guess I can say I am going through something similar. My last period I believe was in October as you can see I do not keep track that well. I know for sure I did not get a period on November at all. I have taken 3 hpt tests which were all negative. I have symptoms such as tender breast about 2 weeks ago which only lasted about a week and now I am getting cramps also a white discharge with no odor or itching. I don't know what I can do next my husband is always out of town working but he was here for about a month straight and left again on the 21 of November so I don't know if I got lucky one of the times we use no protection. Anyway let me know I have read all your entries and can't wait to see what they say on your sonogram, best wishes.

Wonder, it is rather confussing. Your story does sound like mine and I am pregnant, so I would keep testing every couple of days and if nothing over this next week, then I'd just try not to focus on it and see if your period returns. Meanwhile, take prenatals with folic acid and take care of yourself.

Ok, everyone, I had my second ultrasound today and they say I am 4 weeks and 4 days, but I have calculated 5 weeks exactly, since my last cycle was October 24th. Well, that's the last time I experienced bleeding.
I would have sworn I was further along! At least 9 weeks! But the ultrasound showed a small gestational sac, which they said is early in pregnancy. So, based on this one and the blob they saw 2 weeks ago, I just conceived last month!
They couldn't tell me why I have been experiencing things over the past 2 months and why my stomach is all big!
Is it normal to have bloating before you start "showing"? Maybe I'm having twins! I did see two blobs on the ultrasound, but they were spread apart and the Dr. and the NP only focused on one of the blobs. Hmmmmm?

Congrats Crissy. As for me I guess I will have to be patient but from now on Im not going to think about it, if I am not pregnant I am just stopping my period with all the stress. For all those trying to conceive I found something out today in case you did not know. You ovulate 14 days after the first day of your period, so get to it if you want a baby. It is harder for me because my husband is gone all the time working. He came in for about a month and left on the 21st of November so I can't be trying as much as I would like. But if I get my period I am going to be very careful in writing down exactly when I got it and everything. K WELL KEEP US UPDATED CRISSY!

Wonder, I think that is a great idea! I have learned that the mind is such a powerful things and our body falls in line to it's demands. At any rate, confess fruitfulness over your body and it will be fruitful.
I will keep everyone updated. Next month, I will be going to the doctor. I really want to try to work with a small birthing center or community hospital so that I can have a more personalized and natural birthing experience. I'm really into the whole alternative medicine thing already so I think a midwife would be great. I've got a lot to learn about all of this stuff though.

K WELL KEEP US UPDATED CRISSY!!
ME
While many women will ovulate midcycle like that, the 14 day ovulation works based on a 28 day cycle. Not everyone follows that norm however. A better guide would be to consider 12-16 days before your next period is due, regardless of the length of the cycle. For those who have irregular cycles a starting place would be to take 11 days from your longest cycle and 18 days from your shortest. This time frame would be the most likely time of being fertile. The challenge is that not everyone falls within the norm. Some women will naturally ovulate sooner or later than what is considered average.
Getting to know your body well, and determining when you are most likely to be your most fertile, is key. The numbers give you a starting place, but women have to watch for other signs as well. Basing the timing of sex just on those average numbers will cause some couples to miss out completely. For example: if a woman has a 28 day cycle, but tends to ovulate around day 10, focusing the timing of sex at days 12-14 would be too late.
Also important to remember, timing is just one element in the picture. Several other functions have to working in unison to achieve a pregnancy. Any one of those being off in a particular cycle, timing won't matter that round. This is partly why it takes many healthy couples quite a bit of time to become pregnant.

Well then I'm guessing if you want to get pregnant try every single day? Just to be sure. I do understand what you are saying everybody is different I guess what the doctor told me is just like some cases but of course not all. What do you think about missing your period for so long though I did not get it last month which is a lot to me I actually took a blood test yesterday and negative. They said that since I was just barely on the 10th day of the last day I had unprotected sex it might not sense the hcg yet. So if I don't get my period in 2 weeks I have to go again and take another test which is very painful. Do you think it can be something more serious?
DoulaLC
Dec 4, 2008, 09:29 AM
Yes, the idea of ovulating the 14th day from the first day of your period is the average, based on the average 28 day cycle, but focusing too much on just one day, especially since the egg is only viable for about 24 hours with the first half of that thought to be the optimum, can really throw many couples off the mark.
For some couples, sex everyday works just fine. For others, every other day or every third day is more feasible and/or realistic. Unless there is a known concern with sperm count, frequent sex is not an issue for most couples... and may be a good idea several days leading up to ovulation to insure a better quality of sperm. Sperm count many go down a bit over those few days, but not enough to effect chances of pregnancy given the sheer numbers in any one ejaculate... but it may insure healthier sperm at the right time.
Skipping a period once in awhile happens and a reason won't always be determined. Some doctors won't even worry about a pregnancy test until you have missed two periods in a row for that very reason. I'd just wait and see what happens when another period is due and test at that time if need be.

Wonder, follow Doula's advice. She is the expert. I would not know what to tell you. I've only missed a period once, when my best friend missed hers and I was really stressed. Then, now, when I actually did get pregnant, but it showed on a hpt right away... getting a darker line every couple days during the week my period should have come. We can absorb stress in our bodies and not even conceive it in our minds.

My fiancé mesured my belly in the pm because it was more convient but your doctor will do it at every visit too.
With this pregnancy I had a stomach mold done, a 3D unltrasound, a teddy bear with my baby heartbeart, I kept track of the first time I felt the baby kick, things like that. Also, each month I took pictures of my belly for the scrapbook.

It would make it harder if you didn't ovulate as well, but there is no way to really know whether that is the case or not.
Keep trying on a fairly frequent basis, but try to keep it enjoyable and not a chore... see what happens when your next period would be due. If still no period, see your doctor about another pregnancy test... perhaps a quantitative one which would measure the level of hcg.

Help! I am 8 weeks, haven't been to the docotor yet, my first appointment will be in January. I started at 135lbs (gained about 8lbs prior to getting pregnant because I wasn't able to maintain my normal diet due to moving around.) At any rate, I now weight 149LBS! My boobs went from a 34 DD to a 34 DDD! I'm wearing sportsbras cause they're just too big, my butt is bigger and my stomach is already showing! I can still wear my normal clothes, but I just can't button my pants, so I have tuck the flaps in. I don't understand! I've been so hungry and I only eat healthy things, not icecream and cake and chips. I eat real food and snack on applesauce, crackers, and cheese. I don't get it! Am I gaining too much weight? How do I slow it down? I read that I should only gain 6lbs in the first three months and it's only been 2 months and I've gained like 14LBS! What do I do?
DoulaLC

Keep eating healthy choices, but also watch how much you are eating. Even many healthy choices can cause you to take in too much sugar and fats if you are eating too much of them. Try and go for a walk each day... get in the habit of regular exercise. You don't want to diet during pregnancy, but you can certainly watch your intake and make sure it is reasonable.
Maybe keep track of everything you eat and drink, and the amount, over several days and see how much you may or may not really be taking in.
Appetites tend to fluctuate during pregnancy for many women... sometimes eating quite a bit, other times not as much, or very little.

Yeh, everywhere I go, people keep asking me if I'm having twins even when I haven't told them how far along I am. And those that I do tell or just text a picture of me, say that they think it's multiples. It's exciting and scarey. At this point, with my nausea and weight gain, it better be twins or I might be adopting after this!

Hi girls.
I am just catching up on your posts,I was reading another thread today :
https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/pregnancy-new-motherhood/period-but-still-pregnant-273967-6.html
I am going through something very similar to this,I am relieved to find others going through same/simular.
I took a pregnancy test a month ago and got a faint positive.
Then tests after that, they were nedative.. but! I have had lots of pregnancy symptoms, even when I have tried to ignore them and focuus on other things.
I was very surprised when I started bleeding at period time, though at same time I know deep down I am pregnant, and really I am a realist,if I wasn't pregnant,I would accept it and move on.. this has me in quite a crazy situation.
I had a period ,or bleeding,my first few months of being pregnant with my son.. though I didn't suspect pregnancy then.
So just looking for someone to understand really...
My symptoms:
* nausea every morning and evening
* very fussy with foods
* lower back ache
* breasts swollen
* for 3 weeks had cramps /uterus tilting
* tiredness
Now normally at period time,I just start my period with hardly any problems.. I am very lukcy like that.
Thanks for your support..

Hi mummy... you may want to ask your gp about having a blood test done. Let them know about the earlier positive, however faint... and the fact that you still had bleeding in the early months with your son.
Sometimes an early positive becomes a negative on later urine tests if the pregnancy didn't take, but a quantitative blood test would let you know for sure. Fingers crossed for you... if not now, then very soon!

Not too early at all... the changes in hormones can be attributed to early back, hip, pelvic, and leg pain.
Later on the growing baby and uterus will play a role as well.
For now, start watching your posture so that you get into good habits... as you get larger it is easy to start to sway your back and put more pressure on your lower back. Pregnancy massages or even just back rubs can be wonderful. Appying counter pressure to your hip area will likely also feel good. Some women find seeing a chiropractor, who works with pregnant women, to be helpful later in pregnancy, but often throughout... can be useful in avoiding a breech position later in pregnancy as well.

Kpag, no kicks... just some flutters. I've had lower back pain too and when I sit, I feel like my stomach is being crunched and I keep arching my back to stretch it out cause it's just sooooooooooo tight.
I'm seeing a NP on Tuesday, so I'm excited to get an exam, blood work, another sonogram, etc. I will let you know how it goes. Hopefully they'll see two babies and take the mystery out of this already growing belly when I'm only supposed to be 10 weeks.
So far, all is well, except all day sickness and random vomiting. If I could conquer that, I'd be much more excited.

I looked six months pregnant when I was 8 weeks, honestly, and there was only one baby. Some women just expand faster than others, so don't worry.
Eat lots of crackers and make sure to get enough water and other liquids. Small meals, or snacks work best if your nauseous.
Good luck, and once again, congrats, this is an exciting time, treasure every minute. :)

Dec 31, 2008, 06:31 PM
Altenweg, that's what people tell me... "Enjoy it!" What exactly does that mean?
I've done almost everything they say to stop the nausea but things only provide temporary solutions (10minutes to 1 hour, max.) and then I'm sick all over again. The only thing I haven't tried is ginger and accupuncture. I'm going to buy some ginger tea and see if that helps. I can't even drink water anymore, it feels like toxins are being stirred in my belly and I feel like I'm going to vomit or have an accident on myself. I'm bound to milk, juice, and ice chips. If I drink soda... rootbeer, sprite, ginger ale... It provides some relief, but later I get the runs. It's terrible! Sorry for the blunt words.
Some nights, all I eat are crackers and apple sauce or grilled cheese sandwiches. I never know how my stomach is going to react to food... sometimes it's relief and sometimes its like a bomb.
I'm much more excited about the babies than I am about this pregnancy. So far, it's been a lot of drama for me. Argh!
Oh, and one last thing, is it part of some Women's code to say you love being pregnant and that you're happy and excited all the time? Everyone, please answer that for me. Cause honestly, I am not! I hate being pregnant and see why I once thought, "When I start a family, I'm using a surrogate." My poor little body is under distress and it affects everything, including my mood and myself esteem. AHHHHHHHHHHH! I feel like I'm trapped on a roller coaster for 9 months and I don't know when it's dropping or when it's going back to the top, and I sure feel like the end is not in sight. Please don't misunderstand, I am grateful for this blessing from God. I am just saying that it's a lot of work and sacrifice on my part and I'm just not going to pretend like it's flowers and daisies and skipping in the sunset. I feel and look like a buffalo and could care less if I eat or take those nasty horse-pill vitamins. I do it only for my babies, because they need me to be strong. But some days, I wake up and think, "Lord, again!?!" If I could get real symptom relief, my spirits would be higher.

Dec 31, 2008, 07:29 PM
Pregnancy is different for everyone, some women enjoy every minute, others count down the seconds for it to end.
I had both. My first pregnancy was a breeze, no morning sickness, not many mood swings, loved everything about it. The first time I felt the baby move was the happiest day of my life. I admit that by the 8th month, I was done. I gained 80 pounds, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't see my toes, I had been wearing the same clothes for weeks because I didn't want to spend money on more pregnant clohthes. All in all, I was miserable that last month, but it was worth it.
My second pregnancy I developed an esophogial hernia. Everything I ate came back up. Regardless, I still gained 80 pounds, I had viscious leg cramps, back pains, water retention, you name it. I couldn't wait for the baby to come out.
You're only 10 weeks pregnant, that's usually the worst time in your pregnancy. Most women start to feel better in their second trimester, so give it some time. You have a long way to go, get your rest, eat what you can, take your prenatal vitamins and make sure you get to your doctors appointments. It doesn't last forever, but you have at least another 30 weeks to go, so try and enjoy some parts of it. :)
Good luck.

Ok, everyone, so I finally got to a doctor. They put me on meds because I was getting really dehydrated and couldn't keep fluids or foods down. (1 trip to the hospital and almost falling of off the doctors table because of dehydration dizziness was enough to convince me.)
It was sooooooo amazing watching the baby kick and punch and curl into a ball. I mean, the hubby and I couldn't stop staring and smiling at the screen and that little flicker of a heart beat. So precious! 157! Fast as lightening! Praise God for a viable pregnancy!
Thank you all for going on this journey to the bfp with me! Turns out that I am 11 weeks, so I got pregnant in November, and not in October like I thought. So, amazingly, all those symptoms and such were what I call my "spiritual pregnancy" because the very next month, after talking to God about my future, I got pregnant with 1 day of unprotected sex during my ovulation time (didn't know it was my ovulation time at the time we decided to go unprotected.) God is so amazing! He speaks loud and clear!

Awesome! Let us know how it goes. Oh, I am so looking forward to determining the sex. You'll have to let me know when you find out about that too. Now that I am actually pregnant, I'm trying to be an avid reader of information regarding babies, and what products are best. It seems like there are sooooooooooo many bottles and carseats and strollers and knowing which one I should trust in seems overwhelming. I'm told Nestle Good Start is the best formula because the others cause constipation. So, I'm going with that as an occasional addition to my breastmilk because as a former nanny, I've seen what the other brands can do to a baby's system. But car seats, not so easy. Everyone raves about Dr. Brown's bottles, but I hated cleaning those things and if you don't put them together correctly, they leak. I think they're more hassle than they are worth. And I don't want to be bothered with buying and fooling around with bags to put into a bottle when I will have to buy them for breastmilk preservation. All of this stuff is going to add up quick. I also decided to go for cloth diapers and do disposable when I'm out and about or traveling. So... I will have so many different things to buy, but my hope is that breast feeding and cloth diapering will be less expensive and more helpful to my baby in the end. I wish they had some personal shopper who could go with you to the store and was an expert on all the different brands and features... someone who could say, get this and don't get that. Almost like a car salesman or a wedding registry guide. Hee Hee Life would be a lot easier. That would be a great business idea! Someone could go to hospitals and OB offices and have people contact them when they were ready to buy and do their baby registry. Hmmmmmm... maybe that's my secret calling. Hee Hee

Hi Crissy,
Smart of you to do some research to weigh the pros and cons of various products. This, along with recommendations from friends and family, can help guide you in choosing what you will be most comfortable with.
Funny you mention the idea of having someone take you around the shops to go over the different products as I do some of that in my newborn care classes and as a postpartum doula. We discuss a number of different items new parents will have to consider. Not always specific brands, because sometimes it is a matter of personal preference and baby's needs will sometimes dictate the best choice, but we do discuss the pros and cons of things, what is really necessary and what is nice to have.
You will find several sites that will give reviews from both a safety standpoint as well as a convenience standpoint on different products too.
Enjoy... I always found it great fun to check out all the "stuff" for babies... :)

yee criss if u want a girl then lets wish 4 a girllllll woohoo...the thing is on 20 people tha i predicted the sex of their baby i been wrong only on 2 people thats why my friends call me ''gender teller''loooooooooool but u know either its a boy or girl its still a blessinggg!!!!and hmm interesting the diaper clothhh
Ok, gender teller, so you think I'm having a boy? Why is that? I'd love to know. That's a cool gifting to have!
Yeh, my mom used cloth diapers on me and one of my friends is a naturalist, so she has been telling me all about it. I'd love to do it to save money and to give my baby a healthy bum. Hee Hee Go to Cloth Diapers-Comfy Bummy Diapers-Your Complete Resource for Diapering Needs (http://www.comfybummy.com) and they will send you info on cloth diapering- the how to's and what not.

It could be two boys it could be two girls or mix.. its not always one baby duhh loll like I say I've been wrong before so its not like its my job, I just happen to predict it and it comes out to be right again do not rely on it 100 percent... even yesterday I went to this restaurant and my aunt works there I haven't seen her for a long period when I got there I saw tha she was pregnant I didn't know so I was like ''when is she arriving? She started to laugh she said ''how you know it's a girl? I just said nothing and starting laughing

Yo, Kpizzle! What's this talk about twins? Hee Hee Do you think you're having twins or are you wondering how you can guess the sex when someone is having twins? You still haven't told me why you say boy for me.
How is everyone's weight gain going? I've already gotten a lot of water weight gain. I've gone up one pant size and I'm 12 weeks now. And the scale says I've gone from 135/140 to 154! My doctor says she's not worried and I look fine, but that was my first appointment and she never saw me before I was pregnant. What do you guys think? I say it's water weight gain because it's like everything is tight now- thighs, butt, and arms... like they've been filled in or something. Everyone else around me that's at my same week only have visible signs through a little pugginess in the face and a small belly bump. My stomach is already very visible.

Only recommendation I'll make for a car seat is to look for one that will allow you to keep baby facing the rear as long as possible.
Seats will require baby to be turned forwardfacing at a certain weight because of that seats design. Look for one that will keep them facing the rear to the highest weight limit you can find.
While the law states baby can face forward at a year old and at least 20 pounds, that is not the safest option.

Nope, still don't get it. I didn't understand why you were mentioning twins to Altenweg. Also, I asked about guessing the sex of twins since you guess the sex of singletons. No one said you don't have anything better to do... because you spoke of it several times, I presumed you liked guessing, like a fun hobby or something. Anywhoooo... yes, I still want to know what is the reasoning behind your guesses. (Symptoms, a feeling, a hunch, a vision, etc.) Everyone who calls something has some foundation for their guessing. My hubby prides himself on predicting the outcome of all football games. He uses his knowledge of the game, knowledge of the teams strengths and weakness and compares that with the team they are playing, and then he also looks at the location of the game, the coaches, and then makes a prediction. So far, he's always right, winning lots of bets with friends. So, that is why I asked you why do you say a boy for me since you've never seen me before. I know you already said you could be wrong, but I would like to know why you say a boy.
I hope this comes across clearly. ;)

my mind is telling me its a girl my heart is telling me its a boy so right now its basically 50/50..but i defnitly tell u guys on my 11th week even before i find out the sex by utrasound
Why do you say you can tell us on the 11th week before the ultrasound? You mention mind saying one thing and the heart saying something else. Which one do you use when you predict the sex of others babies? Please don't think I'm knockin' you... I'm just wondering, that's all. I have a friend who I haven't seen in months and when I told her I was pregnant 2 months ago, she kept saying girl. I finally saw her last week, and she goes, I still say girl. And I asked her why, and she said she just feels like it's a girl. She is a spiritual person like me, so I just presumed she had a vision or something. My mom had a dream that I had a boy and she said dreams are opposite so that means I'm having a girl. So far, you're the only one saying boy so that's why I wanted to know how you predicted that.
Thanks for the info.

Geezzzz, those pregnancy hormones must be kicking in full force! Remember I was hoping for twins? That's why I wanted to know if there was a reason you mentioned twins. I know you were talking about your pregnancy. I just asked how you will know. That's all- very simple. Dude, it doesn't matter. Typed words are read based on the person reading it, I didn't completely understand what you typed. That is common because you know what you want to say, but the reader does not. If it bothers you for me to ask you about something you said to me or anyone posting, then don't answer. That's fine because it seems as if you are miss reading my words and not having an understanding heart.
I'm not upset that you said it's a boy because you could be right. This pregnancy stuff is all a surprise to me so I will have whatever sex God wants me to have, it's totally in His hands. If I had a say, I'd like a girl, but if it's a boy, I'll be happy too.
God bless you and you're pregnancy.

Wow! A friend of mine just told me her friend is having twins! It's so crazy how common it's becoming. I was a nanny for 1 1/2 years and during that time I had the opportunity to watch two different sets of twins. They are a lot of fun! Hubby and I really wanted twins. Ultrasound shows one baby. Most of the babies I watched were infant boys and yes, clothing selection is soooooooooooo limited. There is soooooooooooo much stuff for girls that it just makes you get all excited!
We may stop after this pregnancy, so if I only get one, I would love for it to be a girl. I do occasional acting gigs, like commercials and local theatre productions, so if my girl is interested in it also, I'd love to do some children's acting camps and help her get into church productions and such and even pageants and other performances if she seems interested. My hubby is into sports and she may vary well be a sporty girl and spend her time going to games and playing with him, so we'll see what happens. Hee hee

In what to expect when you're expecting... it says most evidence has shown that drinking up to 200 mg of caffiene a day does no harm.
You do need to limit caffeine because it does cross the placenta, though to what extent and at what does it affects a fetus is not completely clear.
It does suggest, however, that high doses of caffeine intake slightly increases the chance of miscarriage in early pregnancy.
Just cut back on it, and you should be okay :)

I measured at 19cm and I am 14 weeks. But the baby was not measuring ahead when I went in 3 weeks ago. I asked the doctor if I was measuring large and she said, yes, and that was it. Should I be concerned? What should I be measuring?
DoulaLC
Feb 2, 2009, 11:20 AM
Generally you will measure the number of weeks you are, but there are several things that can account for the measurement to be off. Baby's position, number of pregnancies, length of your torso, location of the placenta, amount of amniotic fluid at the time they measure, as well as baby's size. The measurement is really just a rough guide and is one tool used to estimate baby's size and pattern of growth. Some women will be off, and by a considerable amount, throughout much of their pregnancy without it being an issue.
If she was concerned, she would likely order a scan to do some more measurements.

As far as recommendations go... I highly suggest the Peg Perego P3 stroller. It's super light (I throw it around with one hand) and it's easy to use (my arthritic grandmother can even collapse it and open it up.)
I also really love my Britax Boulevard (I think that's it) car seat. It's like a lazy boy recliner. And it's been great for my giant baby. He outgrew his infant seat at 5.5 months so I'm glad I found a good deal on his Britax seat. It has the side impact protection and is really nice.
I bought a cheap crib from WalMart and wouldn't change that. It's simple and reasonably attractive. And the money I saved on that allowed me to splurge on the stuff I really use a lot, the stroller and car seat.

Feb 2, 2009, 02:36 PM
Oh, and don't worry about measuring big. It's not the end of the world. There are so many different variables (that Doula kindly outlined) that it's not a great indication of whether something is off.
I had a big boy and didn't measure that big for most of my pregnancy. I wasn't measuring more than a centimeter or so ahead, but I have a 7.5 pound 19 inch baby at almost 36 weeks. And I had a girlfriend who measured huge for the first half of her pregnancy but had a 6.5 pound 19 inch baby at 41.5 weeks. So it's kind of iffy.
CrissyDi
Feb 2, 2009, 03:15 PM
Girl- good point and thanks for the recommendation. Doula, wise as usual.
I know this might sound crazy of me since I've openly stated that I wanted twins. But does anyone this it's possible? They run in my family on my mother's side. Both she and my grandmother were pregnant with twins, but lost them to miscarrage. But I have others cousins who have had twins successfully.
I have gained so much weight and so rapidly even though I've been vomiting daily do to my blood sugar dropping. I've also been going poop a lot and so it just seems like food is never in my body long.
I had a dream about having multiples
I started showing at 8 weeks.
I feel movement all the time even though they say I shouldn't be able to feel it. (I know the difference between gas and something flicking you, the flutters, and the feeling of something turning upside down and spinning around in your belly. This activity happens almost daily.)
I'm measuring 19cm at 14 weeks.
I've been sick right from the start.
I had a positive pregnancy test before I even missed my period.
These are all things that just really make me feel maybe I don't have to worry about being so sick and gaining so much weight because maybe I'm having twins .
Ultrasound only shows one, but they normally just zoom in on the sac and that's it. I've gained like 2 lbs a week and the doctors are not concerned. I'm only 5'1, so I know I could show early because of a small torso, but they are telling me I can only gain 25lbs and I've gained at least 20 if not more because I can't exactly calcuate how much I weighed before because I was gaining weight just before I got pregnant. (My body was acting as if I was pregnant and my boobs were swollen and enlarged for a whole month before I got pregnant for real.)
DoulaLC
Feb 2, 2009, 03:30 PM
Possible, but unlikely. They usually don't miss it anymore these days. I would think they would have checked to be sure since you did have some possible signs early on. One big indicator might have been an exceptionally high hcg level earlier than than the norm, but even that can vary quite a bit.
Any chance you are a bit farther along then first thought? Did baby measure on track in a scan?
CrissyDi
Feb 2, 2009, 03:33 PM
I didn't have my first OB visit until 11 weeks and baby was measuring right on target. I just had my second last week at 14 weeks. They said my bloodwork was fine. They didn't say anything about hcg levels. But since I've had severe nausea, I think we were all expecting them to be high.
CrissyDi
Feb 2, 2009, 03:43 PM
Here is the other thing... back when I thought I was pregnant... they (Planned Parenthood, not my current OB) saw a large sac measuring 5 weeks and 6 days and thought it to be a blighted ovum because no other parts were visible. 2 weeks later, I returned and they saw a small sac measuring 4 weeks. So, they just didn't worry about the previous sac that they had seen. Meanwhile, it is still visible to me in the ultrasound with the 4 week sac.
So, I finally get to the OB 7 weeks later and they focus on same developing sac with baby inside it. I told them the story and said I had the old ultrasounds, but they never looked at them. Somehow I feel that I didn't have a blighted ovum and that there are two babies in there cause I never had bleeding. So, I know I didn't miscarry that original sac.
I really think it could be two and one was just larger than the other. Where is it now on the ultrasound? Don't know. They did look around at 11 week scan pretty good (to be honest) but they looked left to right and not up and down.

I had hyperemesis (uncontrollable vomiting) for the whole pregnancy and just had the one baby. So the puking might not be a sign of multiples.
Were the twins in the family fraternal or identical?

All faternal
Yeh, I know lots of people have hyperemesis with singletons as well. I was just adding it because it can mean a high hcg level. I'm still very sick all the time. Although I'm not having the all day feeling of it like before, I still feel yucky and will throw up randomly.

Feb 2, 2009, 03:53 PM
Maybe you did start with a twin... it happens sometimes, but usually it is never known. Your body would reabsorb it early on. If you continue to measure large, they will likely do another scan to double check baby's growth and would see it then if you were pregnant with twins. But again, it is rare these days it wouldn't have been picked up sooner.

Just watch what you eat and keep it as healthy as possible. You will get bigger; maybe a little bit, maybe a fair amount, but try not to worry too much about it. Think of those women who have a few babies in there. Your body was designed to do this... :)

My ob wasn't very nice about my weight gain. (And ignored the fact that one month I gained 9 pounds even though I couldn't keep any food down... hmm... first sign of the pre-eclampsia that was only caught a month later by my primary care physician?) But I just tried to eat healthy foods and only eat when I'm hungry. It was hard with the constant up-chucking but when I found something that stayed down, like avocados, I ate a lot of it.
Don't worry about the weight too much. Just eat healthy and sensible portions. As long as you're following that simple guideline, your body will gain whatever is necessary. And then it will come off again after you have the baby.

Yep, that's me. I also am assured that my weight gain is not due to preeclampsia because my blood pressure is always low, in fact, it was 120 over 60 or 70 when I went on Friday and that's pretty good for me because sometimes I can get down to 90 over 54 and that leads to dizziness and stuff.

I was like that when I was pregnant. The baby was sitting on a nerve that made me have legs pains. It was painful. Also, I had other problems but that is all part of being pregnant.

Hang in there. And you will forget how crappy it is. I had a HORRIBLE pregnancy with my son, I swore I would never get pregnant again... now I am 30 weeks along with baby number two. This pregnancy has been a breeze so far... I guess I am just lucky. Hang in there.

Yes, you are blessed. I know that the next go around has the potential to be much better. Yet it seems like such a big risk cause once I get in it, I have 9 whole months to stick it out. I am short and petitie and not one of those people who don't know they're pregnant until 4 or 5 months along. I start showing and experiencing immediately! ARGH!
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I know it will be over before long. Im 31 weeks now... and on the countdown. Yeah!

Ok everyone... 36 weeks now. YEAH! Wish I could deliver tomorrow! Soooo ready to be done. At my last ultrasound (29 weeks), it said I was a week ahead of where they originally guestimated, but they didn't change my due date. (So maybe Im more like 37 weeks?) Im hoping I will deliver soon, not sure how much more of the heat, aches, and pains, I can take. But like I said, I keep feeling like it will be soon. Pray for me to have an easy and healthy vaginal delivery. Keep you posted!

Thanks Kpag! I went swimming today, to mix it from the walking. It was awesome! I did a lot of stretches and leg excercises and I was way more flexible and light in the water. It was neat feeling my stomach soften and hareden with the contractions while being submerged in water. It also helped with the cramping feeling.
I stayed in the pool for hours because I didn't feel any of the weight from my belly and I felt like I had lost a ton of weight. Well, once I got out the pool... I could barely move and I felt like I gained an extra 100lbs and was pregnant with triplets. Haa haa

Hi CrissyDi... I just wanted to let you know that this thread has really helped me. I have read it from start to now. I too need confirmation of my pregnancy. I have had pregnancy symptoms now since June, however, I've had two urine test done at the doctors office, an ultrasound, and a blood test and they all say no baby. I however am not convinced that I am not pregnant. This will be my 4th pregnancy and I know how I feel. I can't really say when my last menses was because I am still bleeding monthly, however, the flow and the color are different and have been the past two months. Maybe it was too early for me to test when I did, but I don't want to keep testing and coming up negative. I cried each time I got the negative results. Anyway, just knowing that I am NOT crazy helps me to deal with whatever is going on with my body and also helps me to wait and see. I had a talk with God about this before now and I'm sure He wouldn't play with my emotions like that. Thank you for sharing your experience! Blessings :)

bkaMommy, I am sooooooooooooo happy that I have not shared all of this in vain. I have tried to make continuous comments in hopes someone will benefit from it. PRAISE THE LORD!
I know that your desires will be met because you have communicated them to God. Just know if you desire to be pregnant and you are not pregnant right now, then you will be. I know I asked God to show me if I was pregnant and end all the comfussion and he gave me a vision of flowing water that was stopped by a damn... later that month... finally got a positive test and I missed my period. My doctors are counting that month (Nov) as the start of my pregnancy, but I feel like I got pregnant in October. Whenever I got pregnant is no longer important to me, just that God honored my heart and opened this door for me. I originally wasn't looking to get pregnant, but once my body showed signs of it, I asked for God's will to be done and obviously this pregnany is His will and that is better than anything I could ever desire. His will and His timing! Amen!
I am at 37 weeks and what the doctors originally thought could have been a blighted ovum back in November is a full blown, healthy baby. My OB says we are head down and the placenta is in a great location and the fluid levels are great... so at this point, I could deliver any day now. All of my tests have turned out well and other than a lot of annying symptoms, I have had a very healthy pregnancy. I speak the same over you... health and wholeness in spirt, soul, and body. May you have all the provision and favor you need throughout your pregnancy and your life.

Thank you again CrissiDi, for those kind words. I truly believe that God will bless us with another baby(or two);). I feel very strongly about it and have that peace you get when you seek God's guidance. I'm trying not to focus too much on it right now and just wait for nature to take it's course. It's less stressful that way:).
Anyway, back to you and yours... I know that "any-day-now" anxiety has hit you. Have you been doing what they call "preparing the nest", cleaning the house and everything else you can think of? I wish you, the baby and your husband all the best. I pray and trust God that everything will go well with the delivery.
Speaking of the baby... do you have any names picked out yet, or is that a secret you guys are holding on to until the arrival day?

Bk--Yes, Im trying not to be too anxious, which is hard because I keep having contractions. Thanks for the well wishes with delivery.
As for names, God gave me a vision of twins. The doctors have confirmed there is a boy and I believe the other will be a girl. (boy- Kai Maxwell Benton and girl- Chloe Madison Benton) What about you? Any names or genders you believe God is showing you?
I do know what you mean about that peace you get when you seek God and especially when you've heard from God. That's how I felt in the beginning about being pregnant and despite all medical technology... here I am at 37 weeks. I also feel that way about the twins although there is only one showing on the ultrasound.I was wrestling with these things for a while, until I decided to completely release them to God and let His word become manifest in my life, by activating His word through my faith. I have relaized that I must give it to God in prayer, confess it with my mouth and believe in my heart that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. And when I do all these things, then what I desire must manifest. So far I have a proven track record with that formula in my life. It's all just a matter of time. Hallelujah!
Please keep me updated.

Hi Cris... You have me over here all teared up! But, tears of joy! :). We have so much in common. I too, feel as though I'm having twins. However, I have yet to produce a positive pregnancy test. I have let it go and left it with God. I got so upset when I called my ob office to ask them to do another blood test(quantatative) and I felt like they were just not listening to me. I prayed and asked God to help me to calm down and just let Him have His way. They're only going by "book knowledge", I'm going on the wisdom of God.;)
Anyway... getting back to the names, I love the ones you have chosen. Do they have specific meanings? God brought to me the name Saige-which means wise. It can either be a boy or a girl name (Sage-the spelling for a boy). So I know for a fact that this will be the name of one of them because it came from God. I was reading the Bible the other day looking for more names when the parable about the woman named Jael came up. Saige Jael---. I'm going to keep reading and looking for more names for my boy. I'll keep you posted on that.
Try to stay relaxed as much as you can until the big day:D. And thank you so much for keeping in touch with me and letting me share my story with you. You're going to be very busy here soon, so I going to try and keep in touch as long as you are avaiable:)
Wishing you God's Peace and Blessings,
Valerie

No problem, Bka, I'd love to keep in contact. It doesn't show you having a personal messaging account set up on here.
I know, it is easier to just let it go... yet that's so hard to do when your heart's desire is so big. But God rewards those who diligently seek Him, so don't give up hoping. Like you said, there is a peace to not worrying over it. Just don't take the attitude of "whatever happens, happens" because that's not faith. We have the authority to call forth those things that don't currently exist, as if they do exist. And it's those verbal seeds that we sow into the atmosphere that bring forth things from the supernatural to the natural.
My twins are not showing based on science, as you said about your pregnancy. And it may just mean that the other twin does not exist yet, but I am calling her forth and when delivery day comes, she shall appear. Even if you aren't yet pregnant, that doesn't matter, you might be ahead of the game. It will come forth.
Saige Jael- unique. I picked names that I like, then looked up the meanings and let my husband have the final say. He felt God spoke to him about Kai Maxwell... so that one really stuck.
I am doing my best to stay relaxed... sleeping a lot! Hee Hee Im just ready to get this show on the road, so I've been trying to speak to my body and command it to operate according to God's word. And to not be anxious about the big day. I am ready for it to be here, ASAP! Hee Hee

Doc tried to strip my membranes today but couldn't because the cervix was too far back.(Baby's head is really low and in the way.) He said he couldn't reach the inner ocular. The other Doc I see was able to reach it on Friday and said I was 1cm and 80% effaced. So Thursday I go for an ultrasound to verify the weight of the baby. On Friday, Ob said he is 6lbs and 61/2 max. Today, my other Ob said 8lbs and if that's true then I will be scheduled for induction next week.
What can I do to reposition the cervix? What about getting labor started naturally so I don't have to be induced? I will be 39 weeks tomorrow. Any advice? I already tried long walks, sex, and accupressure.

When I was pregnant with my daughter I tried everything to go into labor but in the end I had to be induced.
Your baby is big and I hope everything works out and can wait to see a pic of your bundle of joy.
Did you ask your doctor what to do at home regarding your cervix? Maybe an expert will come along to help.

Hi Crissy, you're soooo close!:D. I suggest that you let your husband massage your nipples. This let's off something in the body that starts labor. I learned this in lamaze class and actually tried it when I was due to have my daughter. It worked for me!

I hope they don't decide to induce just because baby "may" be a good sized. The two opinions from two different OBs lets you know right there how inaccurate ultrasound can be for sizing.
Continue to try the accupressure, walking, frequent sex, nipple stimulation, etc. but remember they only have the potential of helping if your body is ready for labour to start anyway.
If the OBs continue to think baby is a good size, do your best to keep active while in labour. Avoid lying down for extended periods if possible. Let gravity help by walking, sitting, using a birth ball, getting in a shower, etc. which will allow you to stay upright.
Hope things take off for you soon!

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. On Thursday, the ultrasound said baby is 8 lbs. I know this may or may not be accurate. Since I am full term I am really believing God that it will just happen on it's own and I will not have to be induced this week.
Doula- I have been continuing those activities as you suggested. So far, nothing, but maybe something will happen between tonight and tomorrow before my afternoon appointment.
Chevonne- So happy to help and thank you for letting me know that I do have a purpose here.
BKA- We never tried to nipple massage, I will do that tonight.

Hey Everyone! I was induced on Tuesday and delivered baby Kai Maxwell on Wednesday at 3:34 am. I had to push for 3 hours because he was so big and my frame is so small. My Doc was wonderful and really worked with me to deliver vaginally and avoid a c-section. I am so thankful! For me, the pushing phase was the hardest and most painful. The induction process is long and I wish I had gone into labor on my own, but I am overall pleased with my experience and am just sooooooooooo happy to not be pregnant and to have my little baby. I felt like I left the hospital with the greatest gift in the world!
Ok, OK, I do see why people do it again and again and in the end it is worth it. But can anyone say SURROGATE? Yeh, that has to be an option for me on the next go around. Hee Hee
Hope everyone else is doing well and I wish all the pregos minimal pain in delivery.
Smooches!
