First I will explain the circumstances surrounding this. My husband and I had a one night stand with a friend of ours. She became pregnant with my Husband's child. She does NOT want this child, but has consented to carry the child to term and relinquish her maternal rights upon birth. I will do a step-parent adoption on the child. My question is, Since she does NOT want her family to know about the situation (She's 24 don't worry! LOL), in the state of Oregon do the Maternal Grandparents of the Child have to be notified of the relinquishing of maternal rights? We want to do this a quitely as possible for obivous reasons.

Since you will need an attorney to prepare the adoption and relinquishment papers yous are better off asking that attorney. You should be consulting with the attorney now to make sure everything runs smoothly. In most states that have laws protecting grandparents, their rights end with adoption.

To my knowledge no they do not have to be, but will she not notice she is pregnant ?

What are you going to tell the child as the child is growing up and latter wants to know her "real mother" ( hate the term)

Is it going to be a open adoption
