We are tiling the bathroom floor, shower and walls. How do we extend the water supplies to the toilet, tub and sink? The existing water supplie will be too short aftr the hardy board and tile is applied. Can anyone help?

I'm guessing that you may have a THREADED brass pipe and fittings there... this stuff can be VERY TRICKY to work with... even for a plumber. In fact, you could have an IPS (thick) brass pipe... not so bad to work with OR you could have a FINE THREAD (very thin) brass pipe and this stuff just crumbles in your hand... so let's hope not!

Any chance you could post a picture of the shutoffs?

Confirm threads by using flashlight and getting up close to pipe... let me know what you find.. ok?

You sure asked the right guy aboiut a 75 year old house. I was around when it was built. Unless you've had a repipe job you have galvanized pipes throughout. Mark's thinking brass nipples butwe used galvanized nipples to stub out of the walls. You ask,

Simple! Just unscrew the nipples and replace with nipples that are 1 inch longer. Don't forget to Teflon Tape the threads. Good luck, Tom
