We have found two small snakes in our basement in the last two weeks. I have searched, but cannot find where they came from. I'm assuming that there is a mother snake that laid eggs in the basement, and now the eggs have hatched. How do I get rid of them, or even find them without them finding me first?:eek:

You would be amazed how much snakes get into peoples houses. I've found them crawling up my stereo speakers, in our basement... usually its just snakes finding their way in through cracks. Its warmer in houses than nights outside now... I don't think one laid eggs mind you I could be wrong. Some types of snakes also give birth to live young. Were they real small or medium sized. Color? Brown or green? They could be garter snakes or tree snakes. My guess is you're a bit afraid of them... if they are not super tiny snakes you or someone else lol can catch them and just toss them outside. I've found in the many years of catching and releasing snakes here in my home provence (ns canada) that the more mature snakes are less likely to bit you. Whereas baby snakes will try their hardest.

Haha I still remember a time when I tried to catch a little baby grass snake. First time I'd ever had one bit me. Grabbed ahold of my pinky finger in its little jaws. They are more jumpy I think because they need to live to survive. I've also picked up full grown 4 feet long snakes down at the ponds down the road from my house. That one never bit me. And I must of held it for a good two hours trying to convince my boyfriends cousin to just stand by me and take a look (hes terrified) instead. He held me at bay with a ten foot tree branch and almost cried.
