I have an old freezer in the basement that is too big to remove as the previous owners built the walls and suck around it (duh). We will need to disassemble it to remove it and I know there is an issue with freon? What should I do?

Have the freon recovered and get proof that it was done legally for your protection. Probably something like "Recovered freon from Model xyz freezer s/n", EPA lic #... I'd keep model and serial tag and receipt.

Disassemble what you can, compressor etc. Separate into like things. Plastic, steel, aluminum and combination.

Cut it up with jig saw, sawsall.

Take piece to scrap dealer. Get a few pennies. The more separated. The more $.

TO allbeefpati - You can more then likely have a central heat and air person to come and remove the freeon, Maybe at no cost because he will be getting some free freeon ; GOOD luck and GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.
