Hi, Supervisor44!

I like to use names that will get me toward the beginnings of listings if they are listed alphabetically. One word that I like to use would be "Absolute".

Absolute Cleaning Service might be a possibility for you.

Hopefully, others will also come along with some ideas for you!

What kind of advertising do you do and do you get a lot of business because of the kind of advertising that you do, please?

Hi, supervisor44!

Can I take that to mean that you're not interested in any other ways to advertise?

Thanks!

Hi again, supervisor44!

Quoted below is some information that I've already posted on other threads on this site. I have never paid anything to advertise or to have a website that gets excellent exposure when people do searches for things on the Internet. Perhaps some of this information might be helpful to you?

How a person words things on a website or in ads is also very important. If you would like to know how to do that most effectively, please let me know.

Thanks!

You do need to advertise. One of things that I do for a living is that I am a house painter. I really don't get many calls from my Yellow Page ads. But, most of my new business is from ads that I place on the Internet. The following is from an answer that I have already placed elsewhere on this site.

There are many places where you can have a free website or blog where you could advertise your business or anything else for that matter. Some of them can be found by clicking on the following searches.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=Free+Website (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=Free+Website)

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Free+Blog (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Free+Blog)

Although I am in the Yellow Pages of the local phone book, most of my new business comes from the free ads that I have placed on the Internet in some way. It does take some time to set things up. But, once you have done it, you are set. You just need to keep track of when you might need to renew your ads. Some of them will let you know when it's time to renew, and most of them won't On some free advertising sites, your ads might not need to be renewed for years. For others, it ranges from maybe 14 days to 90 days.

I copy and paste what I have advertised into a message in my Drafts folder in the email program that is my primary one, and that would be Outlook Express. I also have a file in my email program that is titled "Passwords." It includes all passwords used as well as user names. Not all sites are going to let you use the same password, and the user name that you select might not be available on a particular site.

A really important thing to remember when doing online advertising is that it's not necessarily your name or the name of your business that people are going to be looking for, but what you do and where you are located. So, how you word your ad and the additional keywords that you use in it are very important. Google doesn't look for repeated words in site. However, some other search engines do.

There are a host of free advertising sites available. Most of the best ones that get the best exposure are on the following list. I have been doing online advertising for over three years now. It has paid off...

One time, someone found me looking for goats in Iowa. They are an animal rescue. They saw my ad on a site where one of my piano tuning ads was located and decided that they wanted to have their piano tuned.

I love it when people find me by accident! It could happen for you too with your business!

I do also frequently drive around and post my small advertising "shingle" with the pull-off tabs anyplace where I can find a free, public bulletin board where I can post them. These can be places like grocery stores, restaurants, bars, Laundromats, bowling alleys, public libraries, etc.

Here is the list of free advertising websites that seem to get the best exposure when people are doing searches for what they want on the Internet. Some of them are even international as far as where the ads reach, in case there is someone who might read what I have posted who wants to advertise on an international level. There are sites that don't get good exposure and, I don't use them. A person would have to be a member of and frequent those particular sites in order to know what is listed on them. I even post on sites that are located in other countries because the exposure is so good!

Hello supe:

If it was me, I'd call it Nudie Cutie Cleaning Service. When they call, you can say your name is Newdie. I don't know. What you want is the phone to ring. Once you've got 'em on the line, the rest is up to you.

Ok...

The name you choose IS important, for example; "Supervisor44's cleaning service is ok but not really professional. I was V.P. of a cleaning company that was the largest Hispanic owned cleaning company in the country at one time. it was named "H... Cleaning Service" and his ego would not let us change it even to "HCS." I know that we could have gotten much more business if the name was more business like.

You want a name that will not hurt you as you venture into larger and more professional business opportunities.

Actually I like "Absolute" Clough it has a nice ring and is professional. Along with getting the name first on websites, it says something about the company. That is what you want, a name that will correlate what and who you are and the kind of service that a prospect can expect from you. Remember the name is only a name, the service you provide is the key.

You mentioned that you received a lot of business from referrals that tells me that yo are service orientated.

I agree; ABSOLUTELY.

I don't even have the word "cleaning" in my companies name. I used a word concerning the environment... and maintenance.

EDIT: (10 minutes later) Remember that you must do a name check with your state before you go and print up all your literature and have that expense. The name you choose may already be in use in your state.

Hi stringer,I did the name check it was available and I registered it,so no one else can use it,have my account set up at the bank, listed in the yellow pages, nothing else was required by my state except for the federal EIN # which I have.

So I am all set and have been doing business under my business name for 2 weeks now.

Thanks

Hi stringer,I went with:Around the house.

That will get you among the "first" in advertising per Clough's advice, good.

The name is good, however it may not apply when you go after commercial and other office cleaning?

Sounds like it is rolling along, excellent. With this economy a lot of companies are looking for more competitive prices now... but at the same service levels though.

Stringer,I have the luxury of having been in the business for over 30yrs and have worked as supervisors for some of the major cleaning companies,so I know what they charge. The company I have now is from my former employer,he owns a moving co and they offered move in/out cleans, and he wanted to get out,so he sold his business to me with all the equipement and all the customers stayed on with me,so I was fortunate enough not to have to start from the ground up,it was just a matter of going from where I was at.
I also owned my own business for 9 yrs with 17 employs and sold that to my husbands niece and she still has it to this day.
