Hi, mithr314!
Sure, we can help you about defects in timber. What is it that you would like to know about that, please? Is there already information in a textbook that you have, or are you supposed to do research outside of a textbook?
Thanks!

Hi, mithr314!
Have you tried the following searches?
Natural Defects in Timber Time Seasoning Manufacture - Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=Natural+Defects+in+Timber+Time+Seasoning+Manufac ture&spell=1)
Natural Defects in Lumber Time Seasoning Manufacture - Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=Natural+Defects+in+Lumber+Time+Seasoning+Manufac ture)
It would seem that there might be a number of sites on either search where you could find some information that could be useful to you.
Thanks!

I agree with Clough here and I'm surprised the answer is not in your text books somewhere. Here is another link:
