Hi! I have a GE GSS22JEMC WW side-by-side unit and the door keeps freezing shut. Specifically, ice accumulates in the spout in the door, then freezes to the underside of the ice maker. The ice maker is turned off and I'm not using the water dispenser either. It's a slow buildup - takes a few days to accumulate. Every few days I pry the door open and break off the ice. Any suggestions?

Stephlbeck - It sounds to me like you have leaks in your doors sealing pieces on the doors and what is happing is the warm air trying to get inside the refrig. Is hitting the cold air from the inside and the warm air recondenses into moisture and then freezes. Like when you have a good cold glass of iced tea , it only takes a few minuts and the water starts to form on there outside of the glass.
I think you should check your seals that are on the doors for cracked or torn or loose rubber seals . Then once a month or as needed take warm soapy water and wash off the seal and where the seal meets the frame of the fridge. . Now if its tore ,cracked ,loose ECT. Then it needs to be replaced, if not YOU CAN DO THIS AFTER THE SEAL IS DRY < USE vasealeen or cooking oil and wipe it on the seal area all the way around the doors seals. This will help to keep it from freezing shut , I even do this to our car doors and truck doors in the winter time it works real good, wipe it ion about once a month . :: Good luck and GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.
