I had the original Norplant taken out about 6 years ago due to the side effects. About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with pcos. I think that the Norplant is what caused it. I wouldn't think that the Norplant would cause you to have PCOS. Rather, I would be looking to Insulin Resistance (IR), not to mention hypothyroid:o.
