I had the original Norplant taken out about 6 years ago due to the side effects. About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with pcos. I think that the Norplant is what caused it. I am 29 and dealing with the inability to lose weight and hair on my face. Nothing I do seems to solve the problem and I was wondering if anyone here has had this problem with Norplant.

I wouldn't think that the Norplant would cause you to have PCOS. Rather, I would be looking to Insulin Resistance (IR), not to mention hypothyroid:o. There are some websites I really like for getting information on PCOS and IR, PCOS – Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (http://www.pcos.insulitelabs.com) & index (http://www.pcosupport.com), maybe they can help steer you in the right direction so that you can get rid of that hair and extra weight.

Cheers.

Hi, this is Dr April again, I was looking at my answer, and only one of the websites I recommended came through. The other site is for the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Association.

Good luck,

Dr April.
