We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and will be tearing out the existing flooring (carpeting on one side, sheet linoleum on the other) and installing wood laminate. We purchased the wood laminate and underlayment, but have some concerns about the floor not being completely level. Basically, there is a slope to the floor on one side of the room (the side with the carpeting. Where the two sides of the room meet (carpeting & linoleum) there is an edge of about 1/4" difference in height. It looks like there was plywood put down to level the floor under the linoleum, but not on the side where the carpeting is.
The laminate will run between the two rooms w/no division, so we need to know an easy way to level this. We got a quote of $550, but I think we could do it ourselves for much cheaper.
Any suggestions?
