I am 20 years old and I have a hypothyroid. Like a REALLY bad hypothyroid. For the past few months I have had constant vaginal problems. There is like a yellowish discharge but it just kind of looks like urine... but I know it's not. Also there is an extremely potent odor. To me it kind of smells like garbage... (um extremely embarassed) I constantly wash myself, I try to refain from scented soaps and tampons. Also there are like two little soars on my vagina. One is somewhat on the inside and on is on the outside. I don't know if I have an STD or if its just a vaginal infection... PLEASE help me!! It has been occurring off and on for the past few months and is extremely embarrassing. I am sexually active and I always use a condom.

Please, please, please see a doctor. What you have could be an STD or worse, an STD with a yeast infection or worse, an STD, a yeast infection and/or the clap. Please make an appointment to see a doctor. Your problem is NOT related to your thyroid and your problem is NOT going to disappear on it's own.

Well except for my doctor said it could be related to my thyroid and not having enough iodine in my body, so they are putting me on hormones and whatnot... But I mean not having enough iodine couldn't cause all of this

Yes I was, and they think its an iodine problem because of my thyroid

I think you should consult with a different doctor as hypothyroidism does not cause foul smelling discharge or sores on your private parts. Hormone therapy will not cure an infection (discharge) or sores. Please see a gynocologist.

J9 - Yes, I know clap is an STD as well as herpes, etc. but the clap does not cause sores like herpes does. I should have rephrased it to say you probably have herpes, the clap and a yeast infection or some kind of infection. I was just typing faster than my brain was working at the time. Thanks for the catch on this one.

Hopefully J_9 will come along and answer this - hormone therapy for a discharge and sores?
