When we purchased my car my husband did so at the dealership he works for and completed all the paper work himself. Now I need the car in my name for business purposes and other reasons. My question is how do I go about doing this in the state of TN and will I have to pay any taxes on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure about TN. But My ex-boyfriend did the same thing here in WA. He bought a car in his name with my money. He signed over the title and wrote the bill of sale as a gift. So, I paid the bare minimum of the title transfer fees.

There emay be fees for transferring the title. There may also be tax consequences, since the transfer would be considered a sale.

Check with your local DMV.
