Make sure to check the ground. The ground is of most importance on these moduals. Also note only a ON SITE professional HVAC repair person should attempt to install and check out these control devices. You are playing with gas controls and unless you know exactly what you are doing you and your family can be hurt besides the damage that can be caused to your furnace.

Does the furnace work with the old module? Or is there a problem with the furnace and the gas company figured it was the board. You say the old module works fine, so I ask the same question as markwithak, why replace. If there is a problem with the operation of the furnace, give us some details(preferably with the old board installed) and one of us may be able to help. And as far as gas companys trying to fix furnaces. They usually don't know what they are doing, they are in the business of selling gas and maintaining gas lines, not trouble shooting complicated pieces of heating equiptment.
Ps. All you gas guys out there, stick to your trade, and make my life a little easier by not working on water heaters, furnaces, or anything beyond the meter. You make enough money on your gas sales, why steal work from plumbers and hvac techs.

After spending $96.00(not returnable ) Had the heating repairman come out and found it was the Orifice clogging on the pilot light !
For lousy 79.00 he got it going .
However, the guy could not figure out how to use the# 8610U Universal ,too ! FUNNY
That tempstar 90ER unit has no circuit board (19 years old)
Go figure !
Thanks anyway
