Please, I don't understand how to get this answer. I have asked all my friends and everything. No one seems to know how to get the answer, or what it is. Can you please just help! D:

"Applicants for an advertised position are required to take a 30-question multiple-choice test. The applicant earns 5 points for each correct answer and loses one point for each incorrect answer.

Anatoli answered all 30 questions on the test and recieved a score of 120. How many questions did he answer correctly?

(1) 5
(2) 10
(3) 15
(4) 25
(5) 30"

Since there are 30 questions, divide them up.

Call X the number of RIGHT questions, and call (30 - X) the number of wrong questions.

since he gets 5 points for the right questions, and -1 for the wrong

5(X) + (-1)(30-x) = 120

5x - 30 + x = 120

6x - 30 = 120

6x = 150

x = 25

and then check your answer.

if he got 25 right, then he now has 125 points, and he also got 5 wrong, so -5... 120
