Hello,
My home is over 5 years old and I would like to install floor tiles, so, my question is, what do I have to do to the old concrete floor before I install the tiles.
Thank you,
Rhondine

Do you mean ceramic or vinyl tiles?

To be clear, I'm not one of the experts.
I looked into this when I installed a ceramic tile floor on new concrete about five years ago. The key points were that it had to be clean, level, and not have moisture coming through. My concrete met these requirements and the floor with 6"x12" tiles on thinset mortar is doing fine.

Like DC said make sure the concrete is clean and the moisture is OK. You don't want any condensation due to humidity on the slab. If the floor has areas of dips a floor filler/leveler can be used.
Use a powdered thinset you mix w/ water and is for concrete application. It will say so on the bag. On the bag of thinset it will indicate what the slab moisture level needs to be. There are moisture indicators you can get from a big box store to tell you the level of moisture in the slab.
