I don't see any tattoo designs at search (http://johny.com), but regardless, it's doubtful that you'll be able to tell what software they used unless they say so on the site.

Post a link to the site you're referring to so we can check it out.

I believe it was this site (http://www.tattoojohnny.com/) they were referring to Rick.

Anyway, tattoo design. There is no good program that is used just to draw tattoos. Chances are these were created using something like Photoshop (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/index.html) or Fireworks (http://www.adobe.com/products/fireworks/) - programs that allow you to draw vector based images. A lot of them might have also been hand sketches that were then scanned in and "inked" in a drawing program.

In my opinion I would use adobe illustrator cs or cs2 (havent messed with that version too much), I don't know what it is, but I like the way the pen tool on that program operates better than any other graphic program. Real smooth for like tribal type designs.
