I just laid a beautiful carerra marble floor in my bathroom. Reddish brown stains are developing from under or within the marble. I have not spilled any thing on it! I have tried soaking in bleach and I have tried oxyclean. No Luck. Anyone able to tell me what to do to cure this?

Jacmac...

What kind of adhesive did you use to set the marble?

You should have used a white adhesive specifically designed for setting marble and stone. I'm guessing that you used a dark colored adhesive for ceramic tile and the color is bleeding up and through the pourous tile.

Call the people that make the adhesive you used and see if this is correct for your application...

Let me know what you find...

I used a thinset mortar (white) fortified with latex. It is laid over a white linoleum 1950's floor with plywood under the linoleum. The tiles are 12x12 and only two out of approx 60 tiles are having this problem. Of course they are right in the middle of the floor so you can see them. The floor has been down for 2 years and the problem appeared at approx 1 year after I laid it. It is not a surface thing, it seems to be in the tile itself. I don't remember the brand name of thinset I used but It was recommended by the people at Lowe's for whatever that is worth.

If it is only two tiles then you must have a couple tiles with mineral deposit that has begun to bleed through those 2 tiles.

If you have extra tiles and you really want too you can remove the discolored tiles and install 2 new ones.

If interested in this just let us know and we will be glad to walk you through the process!
