I've got a year and a half old Frigidaire stacked laundry unit, model FEX 831 CSO. A few months ago, the dryer started making some noise, but nothing too loud, and I just chalked it up to wear and tear. Well, it stopped working the other night, and I called a repairman. He said that it needs a new blower and housing for sure, and that it may need a new motor. You can not turn the drum clockwise, by the way. He told me that Frigidaire replacement parts are notoriously high-priced, and that if the motor is frozen, it would cost $500 to repair, and take 2 weeks just to get the parts. My questions; Are the replacement parts prices and time to procure the parts legit, and since the warranty expired 6 months ago, and the unit only cost $800, would I be beter off chunking it, and replacing it with a better and more durable brand(of course, after I saved the money for it?) Thanks for any advice or help you can give me.

Here's an update. The repairman returned this afternoon to finish taking the dryer apart. He called and said that the motor may be okay, and that he wanted to take the dryer apart to free the motor. Now he tells me that the only thing wrong with the dryer is it needs a new wheel, and he should be able to get one in a day. Obviously this is great news, but now I'm concerned about the reliability of the repairman, as this wasn't even offered as a possibility. But I guess I should be happy.
