Hi, We moved into our house and found mold growing on wallpaper that they had put on all of our basement walls which are cinderblock. I have tried to steam the wallpaper off but it won't come off. I have done a lot of wallpaper removel but this one takes the cake. They hid a lot of it with shelves and used the shelves as storage against the walls. I need to get rid of the wallpaper to get rid of the mold. I think the paste is what is causing the mold from the mositure of the walls which we have tried to solve with better gutters and more dirt against the foundation. I really need some expert advise on this. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to Home Depot in the tool rental department. They don't list the tool on their website, but I think it's a stucco remover or something. A big sander link thing.

I think a random orbit sander with the roughest paper you can find and a bunch of it, as you will have to change often.
Hope it is not a large area, as it will be slow.
good luck

Hi Guys,
Thanks so much for the help. I am going to go to Home Depot to see if they have the machine you are talking about. I wonder if it's a big sander or a walll paper steamer?
Yes I do have a lot to take off. The room is 20 X 20 and the whole thing has been wallpaperd top to bottom. They even wallpapered the center pole! I will be trying both ideas to see which one works the best. Again thanks so much for information. You guys are great!
