I have a 2000 MTD Yard Machine with the 13 HP Tecumeseh OHV engine. We were able to start the mower earlier this year and for some reason it won't even click.

I've replaced the battery, ignition switch, relay, fuses, etc. still not even a click. I believe I've checked the safety switches as well.

Is there a way to test the starter? Can I connect the battery directly to the starter?

Please help, I have a big chunk of grass and am getting tired.. .
Thanks,
Ernie

Yes, you can use a connect a jumper cable to the positive battery terminal, then touch the other end to the terminal (on the starter relay) supplies power to the start.

This should cause the engine to crank.

Try this and get back to me.

You could have a faulty ignition switch?? You can touch a jumper cable to the starter post just to see if it engages... if it does, then its likely to be your ignition switch.
