If you are physically unable to perform substantial work and have been for 6 months you can apply for SS Disability.
Is that what you are asking?

What is your disability? Is it permanent? The fact you are able to (somehow) work would not be in your favor. It takes a lot of medical records and a lot of time to get onto disability. In the meantime, the govt tends to look the other way at anyone applying. You need to be turned down at least once by disability before you can get an attorney to help you. The process can takes months, sometimes years to go through. Only individuals with terminal illnesses are placed at the top of the list to be approved. At one law office I worked at years ago that specialized in disability, this one lady who had AIDS got approved after waiting for about 1 1/2 years. Unfortunately she died less than a month after getting her back benefits. How tragic and sad that lady's case was. And she was on the "fast track case expeditite program" with disability to boot.
