I'm replacing all the old plumbing during out bath remodel and am at the point that I need to connect the new Tub Spout to the stub out, but don't know what should be at the end of the stubout. The old plumbing has a funny looking end but didn't look like it was going to fit on the new tub spout. We bought a Delta shower head/tub spout. Any suggestions? Or diagrams of what the end of the stubout should look like?

I hope your spout was a slip fit ,(see image).This spout simply slips over the end of a copper pipe. The pipe wants to be frere of burrs and lightlygreased with Silicon Jel so the "O" ring doesn't get rolled out of place or get nicked.
Once on the stub-out it tightens down in the bottom with a Allen Head Wrench. Good luck, Tom

That sounds like what I have. Could you try posting the image again? It didn't appear in your post.

I had a different problem, every time I posted I got a nessage saying it was a duplicate of another post in the last 5 minutes. Looks like that got fixed this PM.

Thanks all, they must have fixed the imaging issue because Tom's first post now shows the image which before there was no box for any attached images.

Tom, that is definitely what I have. I'll have to run out and get some silicon gel and install away. I'm very excited. The design must work, though to an amateur it doesn't look like it would contain the water. Wish me luck.

Hey Murph, don't forget what else Tom said. Feel the pipe for nicks or scratches, it must be very, very smooth. If not. Lightly sand with emery before applying the silcione jel.

So, I went to the big box hardware store (Menards) and asked about a silicone gel for putting this tub spout on with and the guy said they didn't carry anything like that. He sold me a Waterproof Grease. Is this the same? The packaging doesn't state what it is made of. He said it was used to grease the pipe to allow the spout to slip on more easily. Any insight or brand names you can share if this isn't the right stuff?

Do Not Use any grease that has petroleum in it. Petroleum grease such as Vaseline will rot neoprene "O" rings. Here's the image I put upin my first post. I don't know why it was removed. Good luck, Tom
