Hi... I am a cheerful person... fun loving and all that.. I have loads of friends... I am always busy.. I am Single and I am not depressed... and all's well and good.

But no matter what I do, there is the empty space within me. Its not a piercing pain like a break up... rather a numb feeling within me.

I have asked myself a few questions like:
Is it because I'm single? Do I want a change? Am I missing something in life?

And trust me - I haven't been able to come up with a solid answer myself. Is it something most people my age face? I am a 26 year old female...

Help someone...

Hi Carla,
As far as I know this is a normal state of being when you aren't actively in love or actively pursuing something important to you. The satisfaction of love is important but the actual being in love part only lasts a little while, so I wouldn't recommend that as a solution to this particular problem.

For many people, the answer is religion. But there are other ways of filling that void feeling and giving yourself a sense of purpose, including dance, art, sports, teaching, community service, and intellectual pursuits of all kinds. What interests you? Think back to times when you've been happy and engaged and not aware of that empty feeling. What were you doing?

Do you exercise regularly? Do you have close friendships with people you can talk about these inner feelings with? Do you have outlets for creative expression? These are just some questions that occur to me.

It is very important to live for Noble Ideals(justice and peace, for example).

You become a partner with all the living and dead altruistic individuals who were dedicated to alleviating the suffering of mankind.

You don't have to do this in a grande fashion, but in a modest way suited to your abilities. :)
