I recently attempted to upgrade my grandmother from dial up to DSL. After discovering her software was too old and did not support DSL I installed Windows XP and then again connected the new modem. Now the only lights lit up are the "Power", "DSL", and "Activity", but the USB is not. I found the modem listed under hardware, but it said "Driver Not Installed". The modem did not come with a disk... Any suggestions?

Do a search for the manufacturer of the modem and see if they have drivers available for download.

You almost always have to have the CD for the DSL modem to work via USB. Usually Ethernet does not require the disk, but you still need to know how to access the configuration page. There is also a specific order required when installing the USB version of the drivers.
