Hi my name is will we just built a 24x30 garage detached I already have conduit running from the house to the garage. My question is what size wire do I need to run to the garage? What size service do I need I plan on having 4 or 5 florecent lights garage door opener, 10 outlets, a mig welder separate 220 circuit, a air compressor small, and various hand tools on outlets. Is 4 or 5 outlets too much for one curcuitand what size wires should I ron for outlets and welder? Do I need gfci or what ever it is called? Thanks for any input.

Let's ask a few questions and make a couple of comments:
Distance matters. Ground rod will be required. Assume sub-panel. The max feeder breaker you will find will be 100 A.
You can put 10 outlets on the same circuit. GFCI maybe. It's in your best interest. Make lights on a separate circuit so your not left in the dark. Garage door opener on separate circuit. You might end up with an outside outlet on the garage that's GFCI protected.
MIG welders can be all over the map and so can air compressors. There isn't a one size fits all here.
Generally, think about what you have and what could be on at the same time.
MIG, LIGHTS, COMPRESSOR, OUTSIDE OUTLET, GARAGE DOOR OPENER.
The inside outlets and a possible outside GFCI. None of this stuff will be on all the times except for the lights, but that's a minimal load anyway, so you don't have to derate.
Get an idea of the loads and the voltages. MIG's can be 120 or 240 and since you picked 240, this suggests a bigger one.
Your proabably looking at 100 A though.
