I live in the States currently and am trying to move to Canada. I can have about $4,000 saved up to move. I just need to know what is reasonable amount of money to have before coming into the country. Do I need anything else besides a passport?

What is your nationality? To live in countries other than your home country permanently, you need a proper visa, either family based visa or employment based visa, etc.

I live in the US, specifically Arizona. I would like to know what is a good amount of money to have saved up before going to Toronto. I am trying to get into the university there. Have any more advice you could give me? I appreciate it. Thank you.

Go to the actual Canadian website everything is self explanotory Welcome to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp) if you are going to be a student in a program that is less than six months it states you can enter just with your US Passport. If it is for longer you have to apply for a visa, and I believe prove that you can afford to pay for your schooling with out a job unless they give you a work permit. Take the permanent resident test and that may be another avenue.

Camborio, I am pretty sure if I attend school there it would be a lot longer than 6 months. So, I am guessing I would need to apply for a Visa then? Does the schools therel help provide lodgings? Thanks.

Why not look into studying abroad and stay enrolled in your university and study abroad in Canada that would be another option. I don't know anything about universities in Canada just go online and look up the province you want to live in and then look up the universities within that province.

If you are going to school or any courses that is over 6 months, you would need to apply for student visa. Look on the internet and find school near the area you'd like, contact them. They would be happy to provide you all related info from GPA required, accommodation, tuition, visa, etc.

To be able to apply for student visa, you must submit financial documents with sufficient funds to cover all expenses during your stay from tuition fee, moving expenses, accommodation, etc.
