How can I make sure my kittens are going to good homes?

Well, it's the same situation I have with my puppies. Interview the people, have lengthy conversations with them. Look at their house hold. Look at their lifestyle. Check up on their vets records. Keep in contact with them after you give them. It's basically intutition about people, you can sense if someone is good or not, at least I can, although sometimes it could be false. Just go with your gut feelings and talk as much as you can with the people they go to. Good luck.

I would suggest pricing the kittens at $20-$30 each. More if they are unique looking or have special traits.

People that are looking for free kittens will pass you by. Those that do come to look will be more serious, and as suggested - in talking to them you can try to determine if they will be good pet owners.

If you think they will be good owners, you can waive the fee, knowing you have found your kittens a good home. :)

If you get a bad feeling about the people, you can up the ante by telling them they'll have to pay the vet fees for the first shots and examination. They'll probably move on looking for a less expesnive option.

Pricing the kittens would eliminate the "non-serious" people; those who take something for free, find out they don't want it, then drop it off by the roadside somewhere.
Also, when someone comes to look at the kittens, the first sign of an animal lover is one who actually sits down on the grass, or the floor, whatever, with them. They start playing with them; shows real love!
I answered an ad, many, many years ago about puppies. After getting to the person's address, sat down in the grass, just amazed at how active and beautiful all the puppies were. I played with them, finally picking out one. The owner told me later she knew I loved them, because I let them play with me.

Ask for two references, make sure one is their vet, and a neighbour or friend that you can call to ask how they are with their pets.
