View Full Version : I'd like to know what can kill a friendship of six years in a day.

So I had a friend. We went through jr. and sr. high together, contemplated going to the same college. Just friends, nothing more. Talked constantly, always together, at each other's houses all the time, everything you would expect. Spent two years writing a play together, even while I was out of the country. Sent each other stuff while out of the country, he even sent me a care package full of junk.

Decided to perform said play with our school drama class. Went great. We co-directed it, had a great time.

Last day of performance the power went out before curtain. He got on stage and made an announcement while I worked the audience, trying to rig up a lighting system. He took all credit for the play, mentioning me as 'working the lights'.

That was the last time I ever heard him say my name. The last words he spoke to me were two days later when I gave him a piece of gum and he said "thank you"

I mean, obviously there is a lot more than what I have typed here, but if I were to write all of it I would probably crash a server or two. But what do you think? It kills me that he refuses to speak to me anymore. We've both gone off to college now and we're still not in contact. He removed me from his Facebook profile and apparently goes around bashing me to all of our mutual friends. I miss him so much, but I don't know what to do anymore except move on, but I really want to know what happened. Any thoughts?

It doesn't seem like it could be as simple as that. I am assuming you are a girl and the friend is a guy... Did you start dating someone new? Is he jealous of your attention to other guys? Did he hit on you and you turned him down?

Or... could it be a misunderstanding? Could someone have told him something you said or did that wasn't true?

I would think that some of your mutual friends must know what happened? Have you asked any of them?

I've never dated anyone officially. I actually really liked this guy, and most people assumed he liked me. That was a big problem because anytime anyone made a comment on it he would get real defensive and ignore me. And put it this way- I'm not the sort of girl that guys hit on. Normally they take one look and run the other direction. Not self pity here, it's just the cold truth. I always hoped this guy would see through that and like me for me, but no such luck.

Just about everyone I've talked to about it says they have no clue what is going on. My best friend danced with him at prom and he asked about me, according to her, and she said he told her he didn't expect anyone to understand what had happened. I really just don't know. He refuses to answer my phone calls or emails, went out of his way to avoid me, but still speaks to my friend (who I introduced to him and who was dating one of his good friends).

Wow... I don't know what to think. I'm sorry I can't offer any advice. Hopefully someone will come along who can.

Something must have happened for him to act that way. Maybe something that you are not aware about? How many times and what have you done to contact him?

Oh so you are a girl and he's boy:

I have feeling he has this HD (hidden desire) to you all throughout. He realized that it's pointless being with you so he decided to end it all.

Just a guess.

Yes, I'm a girl, he's a guy. We actually became friends because of people trying to push us together, and we decided if everyone thought we were destined for one another, we ought to get to know each other.

I wrote him four letters, called him multiple times, instant messaged him, sent him Facebook messages, tried to talk to him through our friends. After a while it just became pointless to try and get myself upset anymore.

You're right, it's pointless.
