My daughters mother has re-married and lives out of state. I currently live in Texas. She has asked me to give up my rights and I have said no. I currently pay child support and carry insurance for her since the day she was born. Would I still be obligated to pay insurance and child support since my daughter will be adopted and living out of state? Also would it make a difference is she lived in Texas or out of state as far as the obligations? Thank You

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I don't think she can be adopted unless you give up your rights.

You can decide whether to allow the adoption. If you choose not to then she will still be your daughter. If you choose to allow the adoption then her step dad becomes her legal father and while you wouldn't be liable for any current support or insurance or anything else you no longer have a daughter.

If he is adopted you no longer have to pay support or insurance, but as stated, you have to give up your rights first for that to happen.
