View Full Version : What Can I Say To Convince Him To Follow His Heart And Not His Brain?

Okay, so me and my ex boyfriend were going out for about 4 months. The thing is: we BOTH still love each other. We broke up over the summer. He wasn't allowed to date because of his aunt, but he did anyway. So I've been living in Massachusetts for all my life and just recently I moved to New York for high school (starting freshman year). I go to a performing arts school, but before school, I was accepted into 3 performing arts schools. I just happened to choose my current one because I felt it was better. So my first day I never noticed him. But on maybe the 2nd or 3rd day, he came up and talked to me. I was thinking "get away from me". I had no feelings for him. But he did. So then we became good friends. Then really good friends. Then, maybe in March, he didn't talk to me for a week! It was devastating.

Finally the next week I got enough courage to talk. After that week, he totally fell in love. For sure! He said I love you, even if we never went out yet. So then he said that he's never really meant I love you to anyone but me. So I said you must be serious then. Then he said, that's what I'm afraid of. So then a few weeks later he asked me out. He told me that the week he didn't talk to me was to see if he really loved me or not. I don't know.. but he's a boy... so I have no idea. It was so nice after that. Until the end of August. Maybe 10 days before school started. He stopped saying I love you and he felt so distant. I think he's been hanging out with a lot of friends lately. (he's friends with a lot of girls, most of which asked him out, but he denied them)

They're strictly friends, he wasn't cheating. But who knows. So the two days before school started, he broke up with me. His reason was because he didn't love me anymore. Then during the conversation, he said that he thinks relationships are bull sh*t. Then, school started. It was a rough few days. Crying and stuff. So he really seemed to still love me. The things he said to me, and he was nice still. I always caught him looking at me too. One time I talked to one of his guy friends and asked if my ex boyfriend still cared for me and his friend was like yessssss!

Okay now to the point. I think the reason for the breakup was because of his aunt. It's his senior year and he's going to college and stuff so he has to prepare and work hard. Though his grades were really good when we were going out. His SAT score was way above average and such. Another reason for the breakup could be that maybe he is embarrassed having me as a girlfriend. I am two years younger than him. And kind of short. Like 5'2''? But, I'm not trying to brag, but I am really pretty. Don't be offended but I get a lot of that you're so beautiful stuff. No one until high school appreciated my beauty. Mostly him I guess.. He's like 6'0'' (sooooo talll :D ) I am much more mature than most of my sophomore friends. There just might be something he's hiding. He never gave me a straight answer.

The last time I asked him was the 4th day of school. I told him that I think we should try our relationship again. With less calleing and stuff so he wouldn't get caught. He said no. BUT I could tell it was incredibly hard for him to say no. When he looked at me he looked as if he was going to cry. Tears welling up and everything. He even said during our dating that if he lost me he would cry. He just never gives a straight answer as to why he borkeup.

PLEASEEE KEEP READING!! It'll make me happy again..

So what I need to know is what I should do or say to make him take me back. I think the reason he fell in love with me was because I never really physically interacted with him. Like giving hugs and just like normal friend touching w/e. Until we were gf/bf. All the other girls would hug him and pretty much torture him against his will. But I mean he never got hurt. It's just a thing girls do when they have a crush. But even though I liked him, I never did any of that. So I guess he was so curious as to why or something. And also, another reason is that we've had a lot of alone time. Train rides sitting on church steps and telling ghost stories etc.

That was all in my freshman year. Should I ask him to try our relationship again now? Or wait for my freshman year to practically happen all over again??

Help pleaseeee ><

I wouldn't really stress it. It was only a four month relationship.. I'm not doubting that you didn't love him, but to a high level where you could see something serious. I don't know. Just talk to him, you have to respect his aunts wished, even though it doesn't work out for you.

Leave him alone, and don't hold on to something that's not happening. His actions toward you at this time, are what you go by, not your own feelings, not what you THINK his feelings are, or what others tell you.

Sorry, but you have to accept that freshman year is over, and you have a new situation in front of you.

As a guy I agree with tal on this, you should just leave him alone. If he wants contact and a relationship with you he will pursue you. He needs to have the time and make up his mind about what is going on with him. You are just getting the bad end of the stick here and should live life. Don't wait for him only to be let down again. You are worth more than that and if he can not figure that out his loss. There will be someone come along that is a better fit for you just hang in there.
