Just bought a 1977 KZ650 with 23,000 miles... there wasn't a drop of oil on the ground or on the bike (old or new) and the bike hadn't been moved in two plus weeks... I got the bike home (about a 30 minute ride) and found oil blowing out a small tube below the carbs... any ideas? What if anything can I do? I was told it was probably the rings... thanks

Are you aware of the kzrider forum? It's at kzrider.com. Lots of experts on KZ series bikes. I recommend you sign up (free) there and ask this q in the foum.

I have and still ride a KZ-650, a 1978 model. I'm not sure what small tube you are referring to. Is the tube connected to the carbs? Is it one of the overflow tubes connected to each carb? Or perhaps it's the vacuum line connected to each of the four rubber boots between each carb and cylinder?
These last ones that stick out of the boots are all supposed to be capped unless you're testing carb synchronization.
Those other hoses that come out of the carbs are for overflow. If there's gas coming out of them, the carb floats are misadjusted or the tabs on them are bent. Too much gas is flowing into the float bowl.

I have the same bike and it did the same thing, it has too much oil in it, drain the oil, the plug is underneath the bike, and put 2 and a half or 3 quarts in it, use racing valvalin 20-50... I did and my worked perfect after...
